Pain...

Yesterday I had such an awful time trying to eat... not that the food was getting stuck, but nothing would appeal to me. For breakfast I had ONE tiny turkey sausage link, for lunch (at almost 3pm) I had two or three bites of a Weigh****chers entree and then I tossed it in the garbage. At dinner time I had a few bites of a lowfat bean burrito and that got trashed too! I think if I ate 300 calories for the whole day, it was a lot! Normally I do better than that, but it was just one of those days when nothing appealed or felt good in the tummy! Anyway, last night when I was trying to sleep I got this really sharp pain in my stomach, sort of behind my belly button, maybe a little higher. It got worse when I tried to lay on my left side so I got up and walked around a bit. Finally I went to sleep but the pain woke me up a few times and I had it a lot today too. I don't think it's a hernia because I've had two of those before and this doesn't feel like one. I tried to eat better today and I even managed to eat a small protein bar and after the protein bar the pain started again. Almost to the point where it hurt to stand up really straight. Anyone else ever have something like this? I called my surgeon and they asked me to come in tomorrow, of course you know with my luck this big snowstorm that they are predicting will keep me trapped in the house! Vi

Sometimes I think we live parallel lives, Vi. I ate some chicken yesterday that didn't agree with me. I started having pain last night in the same area that you're describing. It isn't a pulling pain or a sharp. It's a pressure. It gets worse when I bend down. I think I have gas pains and constipation. I just wish I could pass the gas! I feel like an overstuffed pillow ready to burst. My lower stomach is kind of poochy and tight. I took a Gas-X, and maybe that will help. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. I'm going to ask him what causes this and how to avoid/get rid of it. I hope you feel better. I hope it doesn't snow tomorrow. Cheryl

Sounds like the same pain!! When I bend over or go down the stairs I feel it more. I bought gas x too, maybe that will help! Let's see what the docs say tomorrow. In case I don't make it to my appointment because of the snow, you'll have to fill me in!! Vi

Well it snowed tons and I still went to work, but not to the doctor (work is only a mile away) however, the GAS X did the trick (and eating more) and the pain is gone! I guess it was gas after all. How was your appointment?

My appointment was great, Vi! Doc agreed that I was having gas pains. I told him I took Gas-X. He told me simethicone (Gas-X) will help this pain somewhat. It will relieve gas pains in your pouch better than it will relieve gas pains in your intestines. Intestinal gas has no way out except for the southern route. Since you were feeling what I was feeling, the only thing that was going to make it better was to have a BM and get the gas out. That wasn't happening that day. The doctor advised me that if I was ever in that situation again to use a Dulcolax suppository and help things along. Of course, this was advice given to me by my doctor. Your doctor may decide that's the wrong thing to do. I would call him and ask him if you can do the same thing. I plan to buy the suppositories tomorrow so I'm never in that position again. It hurt for two days before I got rid of that gas. My wound healed better than expected. I weigh 185 pounds, so I'm down 55 pounds. I feel great. I'm glad you feel better too. Gas-X really did help the pain for me. Cheryl

Having similar-ish problem. Same deal with the food today, taking bites of things but just not caring for anything. But, also have abdominal pain today, although I think it's from doing yoga. I started it 2 days ago and I think the stretching and pulling might be too much too soon, had a similar twinge working out on my weight machine thingy [so technical] so I'm gonna lay off the exercise for a few days and see. Could you be doing too much as we women tend to do. Good luck, keep us posted!

Hi Louise We sure do tend to overdo it!! I'm hoping it's just gas!

Hi Violeta! I had a pain too but it wasn't sharp, just discomfort and they told me to eat just an ounce and it seems to be helping.

Hola Celia! I ate more yesterday and I took Gas X and the pain passed, thank GOD! I feel so much better. I guess I wasn't eating enough and filling up with gas!! YIKES This pain felt pretty severe, it had me scared... I'm glad to see it was nothing!
