Does anyone know if it's OK to eat popcorn? I'm concerned that the popcorn hulls will be a problem. Thanks! Sheryl

Yum I would love some... been afraid to try it too because of the carbs mostly... and the fact that it seemed rough to digest...

Popcorn is one of those things that will definitely get you very confusing answers! I haven't tried it because I'm a big chicken, but I haven't asked the doctor or nut about it either. Besides, I love my popcorn dripping with butter, if I did have some now, it would have to be without all that fat - so I'd rather not have it I'd say go with what your doctor/nut tells you - and chew the dickens out of it if you do try it!! Good luck - much love, Carol V

In my diet book from my surgeon/nutritionist, popcorn is one of the items that is listed as a food that "some may tolerate, or some may never tolerate again". We ALWAYS have to remember that EVERY surgeon is different. What one says is ok for one person is going to be different in most cases for another. What is right or wrong for you, may not be the case for that person... I think its probably best to contact one's nutritionist or surgeon if they don't have a reference or list to go by I have a friend who had her surgery done and doesn't have restricitions on anything she eats, but it took her until the end of 2 months to advance to a soft diet per her physician. I have another friend who has absolutely no restrictions, and was advanced to a general diet by the end of her first month. A third friend of mine...his surgeon said the only thing he wouldn't be able to eat ever again were nuts and rice. I am a nurse and work with a number of different surgeons who: 1) All do their surgeries slightly differently for different reasons 2) Have different diet guidelines for their patients to follow 3) Have different plans for follow up care. These things are things to keep in mind... I have tried popcorn once, just a day or two ago... it went "ok".... I chewed one piece at a time and really slow because I was nervous about the shells/husks/or whatever they are called , but I ended up not having any problem...
