Yea!! I'm normal...
I was reading the "What makes you puke" replies and I just want to say that I'm so relieved to know that other "October's" are having difficulties with eating. I thought it was only me and I'm wondering if I'll ever be able to eat without getting sick or feeling that terrible pain in my chest or that something is not going down. This is difficult. I don't want anyone, including myself, to suffer but at least I now know that I'm normal. Thank goodness we are all in this together and have each other to lean on. Do any of you get that terrible taste in your mouth that won't go away? It drives me crazy. Well, everyone take good care and remember, it will get better.
Hugs, Fran
Hi Fran!!! Hey, at the doctor last week, they told me to be prepared for that taste in my mouth. It hasn't happened to me yet, but I asked what it is. They told me that it is called ketosis (sp?) and that it is when your body is burning up fat!!!!! I asked what you are suppose to do about it and they told me that when it happens to call them and they would probably have me drink 3 cups of grape or apple juice a day for 3 days and that would get a person out of ketosis. I need to look up ketosis and find out about it. I thought I'd share this with you since I saw your post. I just vomited tonight on a hamburger. I have been able to eat them before but tonight I think I ate too fast! I hate that pain in the chest, yet I thank God for it all! It's the "tool" working! You take care! Love, Cindy
Hi Cindy,
I have had the bad taste since the first day after surgery. If it's ketosis than at least I'm burning fat but nothing tastes good because of the bad taste. I' just so glad to be normal because I was starting to worry. I've thrown up about 4 times from food that I'm allowed to eat and I haven't eaten too much. I'm trying to retrain myself to eat slow and chew. Old habits are hard to break and Bill can't believe I'm not eating slow enough. Actually, the times I've thrown up I was glad cause I immediately felt better. I know what you mean about hating the pain in the chest but being glad at the same time. It keeps me from doing something stupid or eating foods that may be bad for me. I just can't get enough in so I'm afraid I'll stop losing cause my body will go into starvation mode. Oh well, no one said this would be easy, huh? Every time I see my weight go down, I am thankful for this opportunity and blessing.
Take good care,
Love, Fran
Having others experience the same thing, especially when we all had the surgery in the same month, is really cool information to have. It takes the stress of wondering off our minds. We just have to keep hanging in there until it gets better and focus on all the weight we're losing.
Take good care, Fran
