So what's making YOU puke?

Hi Lynda, I have had the same experience where I will like something today and hate it tomorrow! Eggs and bread seem to be something I can't tolerate yet, but beef (ground) goes down easy, go figure!

I have puked four time all together. Vomiting is not the traumatic thing it used to be, that's for sure! The first one was when I swallowed my iron capsule for the first time. It just sat there and felt like I swallowed a mango seed. I burped a lot and then it just came right back up. The second time I tried to eat a piece of toast and it was too dry. After drinking a little water, it too came right back up. The last two were my fault exclusively. I ate too fast. Once at work for lunch and just didn't chew enough. Thankfully I was in my office and was able to get rid of it privately. On Thursday, I was at a Chinese buffet and somehow I forgot to chew my food nearly enough and ate a mushroom WAY to fast and swallowed way too solid a piece. I felt the chest pressure and just politely excused myself and let it come up. I felt fine afterward and stayed away from the mushrooms after that. I stuck to cottage cheese and some egg drop soup. Too fast will get me every time. I haven't tried beef yet. I have had some shredded chicken which has been all right, but I haven't made a meal of meat yet. I haven't heard from Lady D. I hope she is all right. She has been our support when we needed it and our biggest cheerleader. Cheryl

I agree with you that puking isn't as traumatic as it used to be! I think for me, the eating too fast issue must be the problem and that's funny because I was always a slow eater and now I learned what SLOW really means!! As for Lady D, sounds like she's doing OK judging by her profile updates, maybe she just needed some time to herself? It happens...

Hi Vi I'm still having trouble getting a lot of things down and I can't even count how many times I've thrown up. I can't tolorate any meat or chicken, bread or toast, or salad. I mostly eat cheese and crackers, soup or oatmeal and popcorn. I feel like I'm not eating the right things but right now my choices are limited.

Hi Karen I understand how you feel, I was eating nothing but cheese for a while. You have to work with what you can tolerate right? Hopefully that will pass soon. Everyone seems to progress at different speeds? HUGS, Vi P.S. I've been DYING to have popcorn!

I've only thrown up a couple of times and that was on chicken salad and fish. Ground beef settles easy with me, so that's what I eat the most. I'm tired of it though and need to move on to chicken and other meats. Boy this is harder than I ever thought it would be. But everyone says to hang in there it only gets better. Sure hope it does sooner, rather than later. But I guess it doesn't really matter, it'll happen when it happens!

I havent thrown up, THANK GOD, but I've gotten seriously queasy a few times! I've decided I'm not entirely lactose intolerant, but if I have too much milk (or cream based soups or ice cream) then I'm going to pay dearly for it... I can take it a few sips at a time, like when I'm drinking CIB, but that's it. The only other thing that makes me sick is the protein powder I spent a small fortune on! I cant even smell it anymore, it totally makes me gag... I'm hoping that it passes soon if nothing else then because it was so expensive! As for Lady D- she's posted a little on the South Carolina board, she wasnt feeling too well but is back on track now! Rebecca 227/187/130

I'm with you on the protein powder. :puke: And I have the same problem with milk! I can only take a little of it at a time. I'm sure it will pass soon. Thanks for the update on Lady D! HUGS, Vi

Hello Shrinking Vi! I have found out that any kind of red meat gets me kind of sick, maybe that is what is happening with you! In my diet booklet that my Nutritionist gave me, it says that we should not eat any red meat for at least six months post op! I have missed writing and talking to you and I hope that you can tolerate eating your food a lot more! Try drinking a lot of water before any meal, that will keep you nice and full.
