Threw up for the 1st time

I threw up for the first time last night. Hubby was going to get KFC and asked what I wanted. I told him not to get me anything, I would just find something here. He said "Do you think you could eat a chicken pot pie." I thought I probably could. So, I measured out a half cup from it and only took the softest part of the crust. It had chunks of potatoes and carrots, peas and chicken. All things that I have eaten before. I ate about 1/4 of a cup and started having bad chest pains. Thankfully, I stopped eating. It lasted for about a half hour, then my mouth started watering like crazy and I headed straight for the bathroom. I don't know what caused it, but I don't ever want to throw up again. Marcia

I know Marcia it feels TERRIBLE... it might have had too much fat...my "pouch the grouch" is very silly, one day it might tolerate something, and the next day it doesn't

I agree with CL. My pouch is tempermental too! One day I can eat something just fine and the next I'm sorry you had the experience. I hope you feel better. Keke

I agree with Keke and Celia!! Last night I threw up for an hour after eating rice which I have had on 3 other occasions with no problem! Then I tried to have a protein shake and threw that up as well! This morning even drinking water was hard until my pouch calmed down. I think I need to stay away from rice for a while. Apparently no matter how wet it is, it can still swell in the pouch and cause problems! I think what Celia said about too much fat might have had something to do with it too. The other 3 times I had rice, it was the homemade spanish kind and last night it was the "chinese fried rice" type.... bad bad girl, I know! I got too daring! Live and learn! By the way, I found the Boston Market pot pie (minus the crust) to go down pretty smooth and it can last for about 3 or 4 meals!

Hi Marcia -- imagine my surprise when I read the title -- we had surgery the same day, AND yesterday was the first time that I threw up also!!! After walking on the treadmill, I thought a warm hard-boiled egg sounded good. Well, I made them and sat down to enjoy one. When I had eaten probably 1/4 something just didn't feel right. After terrible chest pains and not being able to 'burp' for 1/2 hr., I finally had the foamies that I've heard so much about. During this time I was not comfortable laying, or walking. I tried moving all different ways. It was SO Painful! Then, another 40 minutes later, I threw up again, and bam, there was my egg. After that, I rested for an hour or so and then felt O.K. Terrible experience, and one I don't wish to repeat. I was just glad it happened at home and not in a restaurant. It would definately put a damper on a fun time!

It is an awful experience, but it sure does teach us a lot! I've done it 3 times for different reasons and my 3rd lesson has been AVOID FRIED RICE!! I was getting too ****y, and I'm glad I have this tool to put me back in my place. In the past this would have been the point where I would start to get a little too comfortable (after losing some weight) and start to gain weight back! It's so good to be "coerced" now to stay on the right path! BTW, my pouch doesn't like eggs now either, but I heard that passes. Vi

You poor thing! I just HATE to vomit. I'm really bad at it, it's a miserable experience. I'm sorry you had such a rough time. It's funny how foods that sit well one day, don't the next. I hope tomorrow is a better day! Sheryl

Marcia- I feel your pain! I went through a 2-week period where I threw up at least once a day- it was awful!! And there didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason- it was mostly stuff I had eaten before and thought I would be ok with. I guess our new pouches just need time to adjust and they can get tempermental sometimes. Keep the faith!
