Hi I am not blaming my dear wife...but we had a big eye opener today at support group...Here goes...my dear wife was making the protein drink the night before...and thinking ok...why not...Big goof...the protein powder breaks down after one hour...so we have been really just throwing that protein down the drain...also you can only absorb 25/30 grams of protein in a hour..so if you have these procomplex or whatever that says 50 grams...you are not getting the full benefit...you would have to be a weight trainer to absorb that much...I had heard this before...but did not really understand...so when you make your protein drink...make it right before you drink it...add banana, peanut butter...be creative...I am not pointing a finger as my wife has been doing a great job...but I just wanted to share this tidbit...We need to share these tidbits when we hear them...Dennis

Hi Dennis! I had read that before about the protein breaking down and our bodies only being able to absorb 25 grams at a time and I wanted to tell people when I read that they were making their drinks the night before, but I didn't have anything in writing to prove it! I'm glad to hear that someone else got the same information so now I know I'm not crazy! BTW, I love my shakes with banana and peanut butter! Sometimes I use "almond butter" instead...YUM! I even toss in some flax seed oil for the health benefits! Vi

Hi there twinnie...I think the jello will be ok..as I remember seeing you can add the unflavored to anything...but go to the Unjury web site and post the question...the guy that runs it, has recipes, etc. and will answer any questions...my wife is putting the UNJURY in the sugar free pudding? so that is ok, I hope...protein, protein..everthing friggin thing is around the PROTEIN...also our bodies are a store house...and we take from the store house for 3 months...then we need to replenish...that is how it was defined yesterday at the support group...and why we don't have to take the calcium for 3 months...some take sooner, some wait...we need to share these things, as we don't KNOW....Love Dennis

Dennis Thanks for the info! I found out something that I didnt know either. I told my surgeon the routine in which I take my vitamins. I was taking both Tums in the morning(1000mcg). She told me to take one in the morning and one in the evening as our intestines can only absorb 500 mcg at one time. I thought that was pretty interesting. take care willby

Thanks Dennis. I was making mine the night before but stopped doing it a few weeks back. I'm glad to read your post because I did not know it was wrong. I'll be sure to continue to make them right before I drink them. Fran

Hi All Dennis asked me to post about protein breakdown. UNJURY, and most normal whey protein does NOT deteriorate quickly (that is, it does NOT deteriorate in 30 minutes). This myth seems to have been perpetuated by an Internet supplement distributor who just doesn't have enough scientific background. You can mix your shake up and keep it in the fridge--even for a day or two--and not even consider protein loss. Here's a common-sense test: Whey is a milk protein. Think about how many days milk spends as it travels from farm, to dairy, to grocery store, sitting on the store refrigerated shelf, sitting in the home fridge...etc... And no one says the milk proteins have broken down. However, you do want to be very sure that your fridge consistently maintains your foodat a temperature BELOW 40 degrees F, even during periods of frequent opening and closing. The reason is NOT because of a concern about protein breakdown, but rather about bacterial growth. One good grocery chain recommended that consumers have a thermometer in the fridge to be sure. Some of the better brands we have heard of include Polder and Taylor. Does this help? Jerome UNJURY Protein
