Hi there...if you get at least 64 oz. of water minimum you will feel better, also it takes about 6 weeks for the energy level to come back...so take it easy and keep working this tool...putting Christmas Lights up, very slowwwwwwwwwwwwww...until later...Dennis finished my protein drink...30 oz. of water so far...
My surgeon does not make his patients stay away from anything except for foods with high fat, are fried, or with a good amount of sugar or drinks with carbonation. He says that everything is trial and error, what one person tolerates another won't and if something doesn't sit well, you aren't ready for it. I haven't had any problems at all except with the protein drinks making my stomach upset and if I don't chew slowly enough, I get that "something is stuck" feeling and have gotten sick (3 times) - which wasn't from what I was eating, just from how I was eating.
I am just over 5 weeks post-op, the first 10 days I was in the hospital. When I looked at what your surgeon says and then looked at what I am allowed: I had ground beef at 3 weeks post op, and chicken a few days later. I had 2 oz of steak for the first time last week.
Hi Sarah! We had surgery on the same day and our surgeons both have the same philosophy! What a coincidence!
BTW, I have had the same experiences as you! Some protein drinks bother me so much now that I can't even look at them and I have gotten sick twice from having that "stuck" feeling, most likely because I didn't pay attention and ate too fast!

Breakfast: 1/2 cup of eggs
Lunch: 5 french fries and one nugget (yeah I know it was a bad choice. I stole it from my son but at least it was a few whereas in my past it would have been the entire lot)
Dinner: 2 beef soft tacos with cheese (minus the tortilla)
And I'm trying to drink, drink, drink. I go to the surgeon tomorrow.
yesterday
b- one egg two pieces of bacon
L- tuna salad with 3 crackers
D- bbq chicken
60 ozs of water
I need to up the water I am working on it.
Right now I am allowed anything. My dr says as long as it is not deep fried or high in fat. It just blows my mind how diets vary so much by different drs.
Take care
