No Noodle Lasagna

1 lb lean ground beef 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce 1.5 tsp garlic salt 1 tsp basil leaves 1 tsp oregano leaves 1 (12 oz) carton dry cottage cheese (1.5 cups) 1/2 cup grated romano or parmesan cheese 1 egg 1.5 lbs zucchini, cut lengthwise into 1/4" slices 2 tbsp flour 1 (4 oz) package shredded lowfat mozzarella cheese Heat oven to 350. Cook and stir meat in large skillet until brown. Rinse with ho****er and drain. Stir in tomato sauce, seasonings, and heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered until mixture is consistancy of spaghetti sauce, about 10 mins. Use baking pan, 9 x 9, coated with PAM Mix cottage cheese, 1/4 cup romano or parm cheese (half of total amount) and the egg. Layer half each of the zucchini, flour, cottage cheese mixture, meat sauce, and mozzerella cheese. Repeat. Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup romano or parm cheese on top Bake uncovered 45 minutes. Let stand 20 minutes before serving. Makes 16 servings. Per serving: 135 calories, 11 gms protein. Enjoy! Sheryl

Everything sounds great except the zuchinni part...I wonder what I could substitute it for..

Just a guess. Maybe substitue eggplant or portobello mushrooms for the zuchinni? ~Nonna
