Any Regrets about having WLS?

The only time I had regrets was the day of surgery and the day after. The hospital stay was tough and I wasn't getting pain meds like I needed. I had horrible back pain. But ever since I have been happy with my decision. It took me almost a year to get my insurance approval, so I believe I was ready. I am so lucky I have had no complications or dumping and have tolerated all foods I have tried (beef, fish, chicken, and others). I don't have any nausea and have not thrown up yet. I do wish I could get in all my protein and water. Nothing really sounds good to me, I don't feel like eating anything but I know I have to. In over 5-6 years I have not been able to lose more than 25 pounds at a time. It seems whenever I got to that point, I alway quit and gained back more. This time I have lost a total of 29 pounds so far and am so happy I had this surgery!!!! Susan

I'm one of those digustingly optimistic people and I wanted this surgery so bad that I promised myself I would never for even one second regret it and I haven't yet -- not even today when I dumped for the first time because I "forgot myself" and ate too fast!

My doctor said that the first several weeks are the hardest and I've been out of surgery for 4 weeks. I came close to regreting it but never quite got there. When I found out today that I've lost 31 pounds, I totally forgot about regret and am very happy I had the surgery.... Fran

I've been having a hard time the last few days. I think I might have an ulcer. Tonight I have a lot of pain in my stomache and I'm pretty miserable. I've already lost 33 pounds so I'm glad about that and I'm going to call the Dr. tomorrow. Tonight I'm a little on the fence. I'll think about this again next month

Hi all! I would say yes at this point I do still regret having the surgery. Although since they found the stricture & I'm not throwing up all day long my outlook does look a lot brighter. I'm hoping with having the next 2 dilations and getting that opening back to normal I will be happier with my decision. I know I will never forget that I had the surgery but I'm looking forward to being able to eat normal foods even if it is in much smaller portions.

I STILL regret it. I do feel a little bit better about it, so maybe with time things will improve? I m in a stall right now and that is frustrating, but I know that it will break. Jenn
