Need help for low carb foods
WOW my pic is up!!! Now u can see what I LOOKED like...I have been told by my dietician that I am to have at least 1000 calories a day, 30% fat, 30% carbs and 40% protein...I hate the protein drinks so she told me to drink 3 carnation instant breakfasts a day (no sugar added kind) but I am lactose intolerant and am only eating Turkey chili, water, hard boiled eggs and my drinks.....
Can anyone give me good ideas for low low carb foods on a puree diet???? I was eating split pea soup and potato soup up until a week ago and figured it was too much carbs!!!
As of my check up on the 18th I lost 18 inches and only 28 lbs. I think I need to kickstart my body again....
Help
Hi Shannon! Nice to see what you look like!
Now it's time to shake you up a bit!
You sound too much like me -- I was complaining (to myself) that I've "only" lost 25 lbs.... HELLO? Have we checked lately? Twenty FIVE lbs is a LOT!!! That's 1/4 of a hundred! ONE HUNDRED sticks of butter! Ok, I think you get the idea!
When was the last time you lost 28 lbs and kept it off? I don't know about you but it's been a while for me!
Here are the things I used for protein in the "soft foods/puree phase":
tuna (well chopped with a little lowfat mayo) 3 oz = 25 grams of protein!
shrimp (also well chopped with a little lowfat mayo) 3 oz = 18 gms protein
crab meat -- 3 oz = 17 gms protein
chili
cottage cheese -- 4oz = 14 gms protein
liverwurst
pureed beans with melted cheese
Also make sure you are getting enough water. I'm definitely not and nothing can stall you weight loss like not drinking enough water!
Hope this helps!
Hugs,
Vi
Hi there Shannon,
The thing that saved me was 1/2 cup Campbell's beef barley soup with 2.5 oz of deli sliced roast beef blended thoroughly. Also, 1/4 c. Select crm of mushroom with 1/4 c. asparagus and 1 pkg Chicken of the Sea crab. I basically take a soup with veggies and add extra meat to up the protein then run through my Magic Bullet. If the soup doesn't have veggies, then I add them. Hope this helps!

Shannon,
I think losing 18lbs and 18" is awesome. Just take it slow, the lbs will come off. Each 1 of us was given different diets by their surgeons/nutritionist and we all lose differently. You'll be fine and your doing great.
I also had my surgery on 10-18-05 and i'm down 40+lbs. I'm doing things like 8 oz of soy milk, imitation crabmeat that I add ff mayo to, salmon, haddock, swordfish, dark meat chicken, deli turkey low fat and low sodium. I try to eat the 2oz that I am supposed to 5x's a day but I can't. I'm only eating about 515 calories, 60-70 protein.
If you want I have this great list that I was given and it states all the diced /pureed proteins to have. Just let me know if you want me to send you the list.
Keep up the great work.
