sorry i haven't been posting
surgery went fine, but i ended up having an infection in one of my incisions. I went back to the dr i week and 3 days after surgery and that's when they found it. they drained it, told me to come back the following monday, and change the dressing twice a day. So i got my car back that friday, did some running around over the weekend and went back to the dr on Monday. they drained it again, told me to come back on Friday. here's the good part. walking to my car, in the parking lot of the medical facility, i tripped, fell, and BROKE MY SHOULDER!!! lucky for me a couple of nurses were just going to their cars and they saw me, called security, called an ambulance, tried to call my Mom (couldn't reach her). It took 6 guys to turn me over to a sitting position. and when they helped me to my feet (that was fun, they grabbed me by the back of my jeans), i dumped. how embarassing! onto a stretcher, into an ambulance for a ride less that 2 blocks. xrays, waiting, sitting in a wheelchair, finally got to a phone and called my Mom - she was about to go in and see a movie, massive amounts of pain from the shoulder. Thankfully nothing was wrong with my surgical sites.
anyway, bottom line is i'm now 3 weeks and 4 days out and i've dropped 43 pounds!! 2 jean sizes. can't put a bra on real well, and i still can't drive, but i'm losing. thank goodness for revival soy protein shakes. i'm living on those. i've done some soft foods and my dr wants me to add chicken fish & turkey now - just in time for thanksgiving!
my short term disability will be extended first by my surgeon, then by my orthopod. i won't be able to go back to wor****il i have movement in my shoulder and i can drive - probably the middle of december.
but i AM ON THE LOSING SIDE!!!!!!
hang in there buds! there is life after surgery. even with a broken shoulder!
