Where do YOU get your Protein from?

I want to change the protein drink that I am drinking because it is causing me to take in 660 calories a day just in itself....not counting my food intake. I am one month out and I am allowed 2 oz of protein at each meal (3 meals a day), so I am only taking in, at the most, 30 grams of protein in my food. What types of protein drinks are you guys using? Are we allowed to eat protein bars this early out? Thanks for any help you can give me. Cindy

When I do protein drinks I do the chocolate Unjury! I really like it and it doesn't make me gag! I've heard of people eating protein bars but I haven't tried to eat one yet. I also get my protein from my meals. For some reason I can't tolerate chicken too much right not so I've been doing crabs, shrimp and I did have some steak but I had to cut it very, very, small and eat very, very, very slow. I wish you luck! Keke

Thanks Keke, I haven't tried shrimp yet, but I have tried crab, tuna, chicken, eggs, cheeses, turkey....but at only 2 oz at each meal...it isn't giving me many grams of protein, and I am to eat like this until I'm 3 months out. I was just on the main board to post the question too and here someone had just posted about this GNC flavorless protein. I guess it has 21 grams of protein. I posted a question to her to find out more about it, so I might be checking it out at GNC. Thanks so much & God bless! Cindy

Cynthia, It seems like there are many drinks out there that are around 100 calories with 20gms protien but the ones I have tried taste NASTY. I know you are worried about your calories too but girl, it sounds like you are still losing really well. Just because you find another drink with less calories doesn't mean you will lose it any faster. It might even send your bod into starvation mode. I don't drink my protien, I eat it and am getting 800 calories or sometimes as much as 1000 a day. The Nut that I saw in the hospital said that 1200 calories would be a good place for me to be. When you start out at over 300lbs it just takes more to run your body. Hugs, Dawn

Hi Dawn, I had been on a stall already for over a week and thought that maybe it could be from getting too many calories from the protein drink. I will be glad when I can just eat all my protein and not have to have protein drinks. Thanks for your insight! Cindy

I've been stalled too, but that's normal around this time for us, the body has to adjust sometimes. Are you getting enough water? I know that I'm NOT and that will cause you to stall! I'm going to have to work hard to get my water back up to where it used to be... I used to drink a gallon EASILY prior to surgery! I get all my protein from food. I'll have MAYBE one protein shake a day or every other day. Tuna has 25 grams of protein in 3 oz, by the way! But how much tuna can a person eat in one day right?

I've heard these are wonderful but I hesitated getting them because of the caffeine, however, I think it's time to break down and try it!!
