Have you cheated??

This may sound dumb but I was curious to know if anyone has cheated since their surgery? The few times I've cheated I felt so guilty but I made sure I only took enough to satisfy the urge. I cheated by: eating a few of my sons french fries - they just spelled so good coming from the Happy Meal (but potatoes make my pouch feel funny--I don't think she likes them much) I had a small bite of a lemon pound cake and it tasted horrible to me so I guess that got rid of the urge all together I pray I'm not alone! I just had to release my cheating nature as a way of forgiving myself! Keep up the good work! We're all in this together! Have a good day and remember your exercise. I will be posting it later! Keke

Hey hon, don't be so hard on yourself. I haven't cheated but I think it's more out of fear than anything else. I'm scared to death of dumping or having something get stuck and I have such an aversion to so many foods right now that it keeps me in check. I have to confess though, the other night my kids were eating fries (my favorite) and I was sooooo tempted to eat take a bite when they kept offering me, but I finally decided against it for fear that anything fried would cause me stomach discomfort (some foods do that to me). But I guarantee you that you are not the first to cheat and you won't be the last! Vi P.S. I'm going to a baby shower today with tons of good food and alcohol, so it will be a TRUE test!

Ok first off, my friends who were having this shower are all crazy Puerto Ricans like ME so this wasn't your typical baby shower... it started around 2pm and wasn't over till about TEN at night and I of course stayed the whole time. SO I had lunch AND dinner there. For lunch I had a few pieces of cheese, turkey, ham and a bite of salami and pepperoni and it was all good! I even tried a tiny piece of bread dipped in this yummy sauce that my friend's Mom made. Nothing bothered my pouch (thank GOD)! For dinner I had a tiny piece of sauteed chicken and it was heaven. I also had a spoonful of spanish rice (I wet it with the broth from the chicken), a dallop of mashed potato, about two spoonfuls of this spanish dish that I LOVE (made with ground beef and ripe plantain) and a bite of the cheese from the baked ziti. This was the MOST flavorful food I've had since surgery and I loved it all!!! And nothing bothered my pouch! When they brought out the cake, I didn't want any (what a miracle) but I had some fresh fruit: 2 grapes (I peeled off the skin) and 2 tiny pieces of melon.... HEAVEN! OK, my one temptation was the white zinfandel that I LOVE... I was dying for some and my friend Maria let me dip my finger in her cup and taste it... It was ALL GOOD!!! Any regrets? HECK NO!!! I had a great time!

Hey Keke, Dont feel bad!!! I have cheated too. Three or four french fries from a happy meal. I have also had a bite of kit kat. Both tasted wonderful so now I try to stay far, far, away. I was so hoping they would make me sick so I would not be tempted again. So now when I get the urge to snack or eat something I am not suppose too. I grap a bottle of water and go walk. So dont worry you are not the only one. You have a great day. Mary

I'm going to do that too..........just grab my water and do something else. I can say my mom and my son have had soda and I've stood up to that temptation. I love Mt. Dew!! That was my coffee prior to surgery! Thanks for sharing! Take care!

Hi Keke! No, by the Grace of God, I have not cheated. But, I agree with Violet, I think it's out of fear....but I'll take that!!!! I find myself thinking that since I have soooo far to go...I weigh 403...if I start cheating now, I'd probably never make it to goal. And I find myself thinking and reminding myself that this is not "just another diet"...I HAD SURGERY to enable me to achieve a healthy weight, so, I am trying to keep it serious in my mind. It has helped thus far. I'm not saying that I will walk this entire journey perfectly...far from it!!! But, since the playing field has now changed and it is now in MY favor to loose weight, I want to glean as much from this surgery as I can. Keep me in your prayers; I have over 200 pounds to loose yet....I've lost 44...Thank You, Jesus!!! Cindy

The closest I did was chew up a choclate covered raisen and spit it out. I am scared to death to dump and not too many foods are sitting good with my new grouchy pouch. I was told at 4 weeks I could have a little diet soda. Had to sit at room temp for 12hours. It was terrible. So anyway I guess my cheat wasn't that bad and it did taste bad. Way too sweet. Go figure.
