Saw the nut....

Today is one month since surgery and I saw the nutritionist. Last week I told her I was starting to eat larger portions because I was getting hungry all the time. She told me 3 3oz meals and no more. There is just no way to eat 800 cals/day on 3 3oz meals, so I started eating 4-5 oz meals and hoped I didn't get in trouble. Well...today she told me I wasn't eating enough! With the amount I'm working out, I need to eat extra, so she told me I could increase the size of my portions, and start having high protein snacks. I'm clear to eat anything except soft breads or tortilla type things, and corn. She told me that when I try steak for the first time to cut it into bite the size of a pencil eraser, and to make sure it's very tender. I can't wait to try steak. YUMMY. Tonight for dinner we are having turkey italian sausage, mashed potatoes, and veggies. A real meal!!!! I have to see her again in 1 month, because she wants to make sure I'm eating enough with all the working out (which is too funny because I already eat more than most everyone on this board). I can also stop grinding up my meds . No more nasty tasting medicine drinks. She said capsules are fine to take, so I don't even have to open the actigall before I take it. I'm also starting Calcium citrate, Iron supplements, and B12 capsules, and I can take a Theragram M now instead of 2 childrens chewables. I weighed 2 lbs more than the Y scale in the office today, but I attribute that to being fully clothed. After the appt, I went to a nearby Y for my workout (not my usual Y) and weighed in my bathing suit and the 2 lbs were gone. So I'll stick with the Y reading at 32 lbs lost. Since I missed my water aerobics class today I swam for 1 mile!!!! I couldn't believe I actually did it. That's double my usual amount. I also did 1.25 miles on the treadmill, 18 minutes on the stat bike, and 6 minutes on the recombanent crosstrainer. OW. Those 6 minutes hurt like hell. It's like a sitting version of a stairmaster. My inner thighs were BURNING. I loved this Y so much more than mine. My membership is up at the end of Jan, and I think I may switch, even though it's more money. Plus they have great childcare so I can start working out on Fridays too. And lastly a word of caution. They did a fat analysis on me today(of course for that they take off the 2lbs for clothes), and while I lost 27 lbs of fat, I also lost 2 lbs of water (even with getting in 64 oz most days), and 3 lbs of muscle. And I work out a TON. I can't even imagine how much muscle mass would be gone if I wasn't working out so much. The nurse told me that your body will burn the calories from anywhere it can get it, muscle or fat. So keep active if you can! So that's all folks....Hope you all have a great evening. I won't be around for chat, I've got my antiquers group tonight. Take care! Sheryl oh...the nut gave me a book of post-op recipes that look amazing. Everything from a bean salad to pumpkin soup to high protein fudge (yes...that's right...I said fudge) I'll post them as soon as I have the time.
