Breakfast - 1 scrambled egg (7grams protein)with 2% mozzarella cheese on 1 pc of 12 grain bread side of cottage cheese(7 grams protein) Total 14 protein for breakfast Carnation instant breakfast drink with skim milk (15 grams of protein) Lunch - 1 can of tuna with light mayo. (23 grams of protein) sugar free popsicle Dinner- Barillo angel hair pasta with sauce and spinach and 2% cheese and a side of cottage cheese (20 grams protein) sugar free popsicle Carnation instant breakfast drink with skim milk (15 grams of protein) 47 ounces of fluid...i know i need more 87 grams of protein The thing I am worrying about is adding protein also adds calories. The portions are so small I cant even guess the calories. I only lost 1 pound the last week and I am wondering with getting all this protein in if I am having to many calories. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Surgery 10-20-05 SW 368 CW 337

It doesn't seem like you're doing that bad to me especially if your portions are small. But you need increase that fluid intake! It seems like you have more than enough protein going in and I commend you for that. How many grams of protein did your doctor suggest that you get in? My doctor said around 50 grams (I think). Keep up the good work!

Wow! I guess I need to up mine so I can stay ahead of the game. But I honestly think I get about 60 grams a day or close to it so I guess I'm not doing that bad!

Deb, GOOD JOB! Wow, I am proud of you for getting that protien it. I think you are doing great and the lack of weight loss last week was probably do to the dreaded STALL. I hit a stall in my third week and it lasted for 8 days! After that I dropped a few more pounds. I'm making a commitment to myself to stay off the scale other than once a month. I am weighing on the 12th of every month. I think this will keep me sane. Hugs, Dawn

I AM IN A STALL RIGHT NOW, MS DAWN &, YUP, IT'S IN THE 3rd WEEK! THAT SEEMS TO BE THE TIME WHEN OUR BODIES HAVE TO TAKE A WEIGHT-LOSS BREATHER. NO BIGGIE ... THE SCALE WILL MOVE AGAIN BECAUSE I'M STICKING WITH THE EATING PLAN RELIGIOUSLY SO ALL IS WELL!!!!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU DAWN & NICK

I admire you for your wonderful attitude. I got a bit mad when my stall was going on. The thing that annoyed me is the way it fell it made my one month total much less than I had planned for. Nothing you can do about it but keep on keepin' on. When I had my first RNY I didn't hit a stall until the second month but then it lasted for 3 weeks!!! I wanted to the scales. Hugs, Dawn

THE BEST WAY I HAVE FOUND TO TRACK WHAT MY INTAKE IS FOR THE DAY, IS TO SET UP 2 SPREADSHEETS IN EXCEL. ONE IS MY DAILY INTAKE (MEDS/SUPPLEMENTS, FLUIDS & FOOD) ... THE OTHER IS A DAILY SUMMARY INCLUDING A COLUMN FOR EXERCISE INFO & COMMENTS. I TRACK FLUIDS, PROTEINS, FAT, SUGAR CARBS (NOT ALL CARBS - JUST SUGAR CARBS DUE TO THE TYPE OF EATING PLAN MY SURGEON HAS ME ON) & CALORIES. I LIST ALL THE INFO FOR EACH FOOD I TRY SO THAT I CAN JUST "COPY & PASTE" FROM MY FOOD LIST TO MY DAILY INTAKE LIST. SINCE EXCEL ALLOWS FOR A RUNNING TOTAL, I JUST PUT A "SUM" FOR EACH COLUMN & THAT WAY, I CAN TELL ANYTIME OF THE DAY HOW MUCH/MANY FLUIDS, PROTEINS, FATS, SURGAR CARBS & CALORIES I'VE ALREADY CONSUMED. I ALSO "X" EACH PRESCRIPTION & EACH SUPPLEMENT AS I TAKE THEM SO I MAKE SURE I DON'T MISS ANY PILL. OBVIOUSLY, YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT, MS DEB, OR YOU WOULDN'T BE HAVING SUCH WONDERFUL RESULTS! A GREAT BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU! THERE IS ONE THING THAT JUMPS OUT AT ME ... EXCEPT FOR THE 2 S-F POPCICLES, YOU DON'T LIST ANY CLEAR, NO/LOW CALORIE FLUIDS. CLEAR FLUIDS ARE THE ONLY FLUIDS THAT CLEANSE YOUR SYSTEM & ALLOW FOR FASTER WEIGHT LOSS AS THEY CLEAN OUT THE BROKEN DOWN FATS & WASTE BUILD UP IN YOUR SYSTEM. FLUIDS, SUCH AS CIB & SOUPS, ETC, NEED DIGESTION LIKE A FOOD. SO, YOU MIGHT THINK ABOUT ADDING WATER, CRYSTAL LITE, S-F SNAPPLE, MINUTE MAID LIGHT ... SOMETHING LIKE THAT. GOD BLESS YOU DAWN & NICK

My nutritionist has me doing 60-70 grams protein a day, any more may not be a good thing. 56 oz of liquids is usually what my nutritionist and surgeon want. I try to get 60-70 grams in of protein although I'm still only doing 2 oz of soft food 5x's a day. I too can't get in alot of the liquids, I get too full. I can't even do Pasta yet or any starches, veggies, fruits, fat. Lucky me. Try doing more popsicles to get in more liquid intake. Try doing 60 grams of protein and see if you lose more than 1 lb. It's worth a shot. I also try to get in 1 protein shake in if I can. I drink Carb Conscious Carnation No sugar added ready to drink. They taste so much better than the powder. I don't want to tell you what to eat and how much, but this is what I do and am down 40+lbs after 1 month post-op. I also don't mean to brag. Hope all goes well and you will lose more than 1lb a week, I have faith in you. Lisa J
