My experience

My experience: Hemorrhaged during surgery and required carotid stimulation by the anesthesiologist. Heart doctor called in because blood pressure too low and pulse too high. Went directly to Intensive Care (ICU) immediately following surgery. Went into kidney failure due to massive internal bleeding / blood loss caused by the gastric leak. However, gained 66 pounds of fluid despite not eating or drinking for weeks (only nutrition was provided by IV) Kidney doctor consulted to find a way to reverse the kidney failure. Required emergency surgery at midnight- 4 days after first surgery to repair leak since kidneys had shut down and body was beginning to shut down. Was again sent to ICU on a ventilator machine that breathes for people. Massive, uncontrollable liquid diarrhea developed shortly following the emergency surgery. Ileus (area of intestines not working) developed as a result of the leak and the 2nd surgery. Fever as high as 107 degree temperature. Abdominal incision site opened and drained large amount of bloody fluid in 24hrs.(equal to five 2-liter soda bottles). Required numerous blood transfusions. Extensive infection throughout abdomen. Infectious disease doc prescribed multiple antibiotics to help stop massive infection in abdomen area. Another wound busted open pouring out pus. A third wound shortly thereafter opened pouring out pus in large amounts as well. Holes the size of lemons (abscesses) opened up on buttocks and poured out pus as well. All openings draining pus require daily care from team of medical staff specializing in treatment of wounds due to severity. Gastric leak is still on-going. Emergency surgery did not repair it. Infection still present. Wounds still draining. Fever still persists. Still not allowed food or drink. Still on IVs for nutrition, anti-biotics, and pain medicine. Still in hospital. Not yet stable condition, but plan to transfer to rehab hospital for up to 3 months to receive hands-on intensive daily care and rehabilitation if/when his gastric bypass surgery complications resolve.

I am not sure if you are sincere or not since you state in your last sentence His gastric bypass and yet your title is MY Experience. If your post is indeed sincere and honest I would definately file a lawsuit because this is DEFINATELY not the norm.

THIS IS THE ONE THING MY SURGERON REALLY EMPHASIZED ... IF A LEA****URS, THIS IS LIFE-THREATENING & DEMANDS IMMEDIATE REPAIR. WE ARE SO SORRY THAT YOUR SON IS HAVING TO GO THROUGH ALL THIS & OUR PRAYERS GO OUT TO HIM. WHY ISN'T THE LEAK REPAIRED PROPERLY? IF THE LEAK PERSISTS, WON'T THE INFECTIONS CONTINUE? HOW CAN THEY REHAB YOUR SON IF THEY HAVEN'T RESOLVED THE PROBLEM OF THE LEAK? SOMETHING JUST DOESN'T SOUND RIGHT ... ARE YOU ALLOWED TO BRING IN ANOTHER WLS SURGEON FOR A 2nd OPINION? FORGET THAT ... ALLOWED OR NOT ... SOMEONE ELSE NEEDS TO LOOK AT THE REASONS WHY HE IS STILL LEAKING. I'VE NEVER HEARD OF AN ONGOING LEAK LIKE THIS & HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS FOR WELL OVER A YEAR & A HALF. GOD BLESS YOU DAWN & NICK
