2 wks post op with questions.
I just asked my Doctors office this question today as I overlooked it in my surgery notebook.
Dr. Boyce's Patients:
1 1/2 ounces three times a day - measured out in your 1 ounce measuring cup
The only carb we are allowed to have at this point (with a STRICT warning that it is high in Carbs) is Regular Cook Cream of Wheat (instant packets are primarily sugar with a little bit of cream of wheat).
I'm with the others - call your Doctors office to see what guidelines they have set for you. Good Luck!
::::Hijack!! LOL Hi Rachelle! I am a patient of Dr. Boyce too! I had my surgery on 10/24... I am really miffed that I missed the last support group meeting last week.... I wanted to go, but for some reason I thought it was this week. Have you gone to see Angie yet for your nut class? I have to call her tomorrow and set that up. Anyway... just wanted to say hi!
Here's a link to my surgeon's food guide...

I had my surgery 3 and 1/2 weeks ago and I eat about 3-4 oz of food (soft foods) at each meal. They wanted us to have 6 meals a day, but I can only manage about 4 meals. I'm allowed refried beans though and chili and have no problems with either one (so long as I chew well).
It's a good idea to check with your doctor though, for his specific instructions since I noticed they all seem to differ.
Hope that helps!

I will be 4 weeks post op tommorrow. I didn't see a nut and my surgeon really gave us no idea on portion sizes, so I have just been going with 2-2.5 oz. The only guideline that was given was to get in 45-50 oz of protein a day.
I would really reccommend staying away from the carbs (crackers) other than maybe the refried beans which do have carbs, but also protein.
Use a program like fitday.com to track your protein.
