AGAIN, I DO APOLOGIZE, MS SHERYL ... I HONESTLY DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE THAT IT WAS YOUR POST ... I SAW THE SUBJECT THAT WAS SIMILAR TO MY FRIEND'S & POPPED IN ON IT. YOU ARE RIGHT ... YOU COULDN'T HAVE KNOWN. SPEAKING DIRECTLY TO HER IS GETTING NOWHERE ... NOT FROM HER DR, ME, FRIENDS OR FAMILY. IT WAS MY ATTEMPT TO SET THE SUBJECT ON THE BOARDS SO SHE MIGHT SEE IT AS NOT AGAINST HER ... BUT, AS A SUBJECT TO PONDER. THERE WERE A LOT OF OPINIONS ABOUT THE SUBJECT ON THE BOARD SO I THOUGHT IT MIGHT HELP HER TO THINK THINGS THROUGH. HER SURGEON DOES NOT ALLOW THE ITEMS IN QUESTION. MY MISTAKE WAS ATTACHING IT TO YOUR POST INSTEAD OF JUST POSTING A NEW POST & AGAIN, I APOLOGIZE. WHEN YOU ARE WORRIED FOR SOMEONE, SOMETIMES YOU DON'T DO THINGS PERFECTLY - I DID NOT DO WELL BECAUSE IN THIS CASE, I OFFENDED YOU. ONE DAY YOU WILL REALIZE THAT A SMALL, INSIGNIFICANT ISSUE LIKE A POST IS NOT WORTH YOUR ANGER. SAVE THAT WONDERFUL PASSION FOR POSITIVE THINGS IN YOUR LIFE. YES, VOICING YOUR FRUSTRATION DOES SHOW MATURITY, BUT DOING SO IN A MANNER THAT DARN NEAR DECAPITATES YOUR "OPPONENT" DOES NOT. SOMETIMES LIFE ISN'T AS SIMPLE AS "SAY WHAT YOU MEAN; MEAN WHAT YOU SAY" WHEN IT COMES TO SOMEONE YOU CARE ABOUT WHO IS HURTING THEMSELVES. THERE'S NOTHING TO GET PAST, MS SHERYL ... IT WAS JUST A MISTAKEN POST. GOD BLESS YOU DAWN & NICK

Dawn, All is forgiven. I just wanted to say that getting frustrated at the small stuff, helps me appreciate and not get frustrated at the big stuff. It's what keeps me sane while my son spits on me for half hour straight while laughing hysterically. (that actually happened yesterday while grocery shopping) As for "darn near decapitating" you, so sorry. It's not you personally. It's a combo of a burning desire to win, a righteous attitude, and a really high IQ. My sharp tongue has gotten me into plenty a pickle. It's like you said. I judge myself every day. I didn't mean to be viscious. I really hope your friend "sees the light" and turns it around soon. If saying what you mean isn't getting anywhere with her, maybe more drastic measures are needed. It's a little morbid, but see if you can arrange to take her to your local morgue or funeral home so she can see in person what will happen if she continues to ignore her doctors instructions. Maybe it will take staring death in the face for her to do a turnaround. I know they do stuff like that with juevenile deliquents to "scare" them straight. I don't know...just a thought. Again....sorry. Sheryl

Vi, Rice has been on my list of approved foods since last week, as well as mashed potatoes (this week I get 1/4 of a "real" potato), and well cooked pasta. I don't know why some surgeons say don't eat it and some say fine. My bariatric center made me give up caffeine and carbonated drinks, but some doctors say carbonated drinks are fine, as long as you can burp up the fizzle. Some have people doing 3 weeks or more of liquid diet, and some only had to do a few days. Every surgeon seems to have their own plan of what they want people to do. I have had absolutely no problem with rice any of the times I've eaten it. But I can't take more than 2 bites of toast before I'm in severe pain (don't know if it gets stuck or expands) so I don't eat toast. Sheryl

I hear you, every surgeon has different rules -- that makes me a little nuts because the dietician at the hospital had totally different rules than my surgeon and she gave me this sheet of stuff I could eat and I told her that my surgeon said not to most of them. Her response was that SHE needed to talk to him about that... so I figured I would take both lists and just use my good judgment and my research. So far so good! I have mashed potataoes on my list too by the way, and I enjoyed the hell out of a tiny potota that I mashed up from a beef stew. It was delicious, but I got really tired afer I ate it! It's interesting to see how different things react with different people! BTW, my surgeon's nutritionist (yet a third opinion) said we could have rice if we had it in soup so that it was "wet" first. They also told us we could have cream of wheat and oatmeal. Vi P.S. I got a ton of swarovski beads in the mail Saturday... weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Hi Sheryl! I am so sorry to hear that you had problems with the Chinese! Try a non-fried chicken next time. I know that my angel eats a ton of Princess Chicken (chicken with peanuts). I am not big on peanuts in my food, but there are a lot of chinese dishes with not a lot of sugar and fried food. I hate it that we can't eat the fried stuff because Chinese is my ALL TIME FAVORITE and I am having problems avoiding the egg rolls and General Tso's chicken ! I am not on solid food yet, though. I can't wait to try all that good stuff! We went to Qdoba the other night for dinner and I got the Tortilla soup without the tortilla strips (I'm still on full liquids). It was good, but it was a bit spicy. So far, spicy stuff doesn't bother me, but I am trying to avoid it for right now. I am really not sure why so many surgeons have so many differing rules. It kind of drives me nuts! I probably have one of the more conservative surgeons. I was on clear liquids for a week after surgery, I am on full liquids for a week, then I am on pureed for two weeks, and finally I am on solid foods 4 weeks out. I can't wait for that! It's like my husband says, all dr.'s are VERY conservative with their recommendations. But, that is what they are...recommendations. Only you know how your body is going to react. I am not suggesting that you go out and try to eat a steak right away, but I am saying that if you feel your body can handle gauc., then by all means...eat it! It's all trial and error. Just try not to stray too far from your approved lists. You know that though Sheryl, I think you are doing great! Keep up the good work! To take a quote from Batman..."Why do we fall? So that we can learn to pick ourselves back up." Live and learn, girly! HUGS!!! Kristine

To everyone, I did a week of clear liquids, and then a week of full liquids. 3 days into my soft and pureed foods week, I had an appt with the dietician and she advanced me to solids then as I was tolerating everything. She told me I could have 1 tsp of fat per day, and the "fat" was of my choosing. When I went to Qdoba, I chose guacamole as my fat. The chinese thing was not of my choosing, my husband ordered the food while I was in the bathroom. I don't think I will going out for chinese for a very very very long time. The dietician told me to try one new food a day and see how it sits with me. Today I'm trying tuna (which in the past I've hated, but I thought I'd give it another try). Tomorrow I'm trying salmon chunks. Most of the new foods I'm trying are meats and other things high in protein. The rice, potatoes, crackers, etc, are just fillers. Almost every meal I eat is 1 oz protein, 1 oz veggies or mashed fruit, and 1 oz carb filler. This is what I was told to do. In between meals I have water and 1 protein shake/day (nutritionist said that was all I needed now). Sometimes I go crazy and have a glass of soy milk. I never snack, as this is a big no-no to my doctor. The only thing I'm doing differently than everyone else is that I'm trying new foods. But I have permission, so I don't consider it "falling". I'm not trying to get down on anyone, I just feel like everyone thinks I'm ignoring all the rules and eating nothing but carbs. I'm not. I'm trying to follow every rule to the best of my ability. For cryin' out loud, I just walked in the house after a 3 HOUR workout. I walked for a mile at 3.5 mph, I did a 1 hour water aerobics class (and not the easy one like I usually take), swam 18 laps, and rode a stationary bike for 10 minutes. I've lost almost 30 lbs in 3 weeks. I have NOTHING to apologize for. I didn't mean to spark a big debate when I posted this thread. I had only 1 message. Mexican good....Chinese BAAADDDD. That's all. Period. I thought that maybe there were some people who are sick of eating the same thing every day, who might like to know what's been going down good and bad so they can try something new when they are ready. WOW....when I read that back that sounded really *****y. I didn't mean it to. Did I mention that I just came from a 3 hour workout and am tired and sore in places I didn't even think were part of my body? I just wanted to state the facts, that's all....no *****iness intended. Sheryl (who is about to go and take a well deserved nap)

I understand that you are upset. I am sorry if I came across as telling you what to do. My intention was NOT to make you mad or spark a fight. My quote about falling wasn't saying that you fell off the wagon, it was just a little comfort (or so I thought) to tell you that...so you got sick...live and learn. We are all going to eat something that won't agree with us...pick yourself up and brush yourself off and start a new. I was by no means telling you that you were wrong. For God's sake, I had a sundae last night made up of 2 scoops low carb ice cream, sf chocolate syrup, and peanut butter. I felt MISERABLE last night after eating that! But, I picked myself up and brushed myself off and told myself that I would not do that again. I am so sorry if you felt I was reprimanding you. That was NOT my intention. I am with you, not against you !

Kristine, That wasn't directed at you...that was a general "to everyone" message. I'm just really sore and tired and still defensive from last night. Just ignore the post in it's entirety. I'm going to pick up my son from school, put on Noggin, and take a nap while he watches tv. I need to be fresh faced tonight so I can drool over my favorite duo tonight on Prisonbreak. Sheryl
