Hi Ya'll, I decided I need to be posting on this board
Hello everyone,
I had my revision 10/12/05. Unlike most of you, I am a seasoned RNY professional. This is my 3rd RNY related surgery. With my first RNY in April of 2002 I lost 95 lbs and then stalled out. I could eat much more than any of my other same month RNY pals. I kind of held my weight for about a year and got pregnant with my baby girl. I gained a good amount of weight with the pregnancy and plus the hernia I had from the first RNY grew to be the size of a small watermellon. So, I had a hernia repair and Doc bypassed more intestine to try and help with weight gain in September of 2004. Shortly after surgery I got pnemonia and coughed away my hernia repair. The extra bypass didn't really help me lose weight either. For the next year I ate like a pig and gained even more of my 95lbs back. My hernia grew to the size of a basketball so I had it repaired again and Doc took my pouch from 250cc down to under 100cc. He didn't take it any smaller because he didn't want to mess with my stoma. It is a good size and doesn't cause me any trouble. I am trying to watch my eating and stick to protien food sources. I do have a carb serving with dinner. My weight loss is slow. But whats new? Haha
I hope I can be a help to all of you by at least being able to tell you what NOT to do with this surgery.
Hugs,
Dawn
Hey Dawn,
Welcome, and I hope things work out better for you this time. Where in OKC are you? I lived off NW Hwy and Council for a year, and then in Edmond for 3 years before moving to Iowa last July. I was just posting about how I'm going to miss the mild winters there, as I am COLD all the time since my RNY. I grew up in Chicagoland and when we moved to OKC I couldn't believe how small it was. There were only 3 malls! Now I live in a town of less than 1000 and I have to drive 30 minutes to get to a mall at all! Besides the tornados, I miss Oklahoma a lot. There was just so much more to do there for small kids than around here. And my 2 of my 4 favorite restaurants in the world are there.....Pearls and Teds Cafe Escandido. Oh how I miss Ted's.

Hi Sheryl,
I live off of SW 104th and Penn. They just built a new Teds on this side of town and I lived on it pre-surgery. I'm not much of a Pearls lover, don't care for seafood. I love living in Oklahoma, people here are so nice. Other places I have visited just don't seem to have the warm people we have here. I wish you were still here, we could be weight loss buddies.
Hugs,
Dawn
We can still be weight loss buddies, just cross country ones! Feel free to email me anytime, or we'll keep up with eachother by posting.
How can you not like seafood???? I can't understand that at all. If I were on death row my last meal would be steak, lobster tail, and fried shrimp. Not that I'm planning a trip to death row anytime soon. It's just one of those things that I keep track of....like my list of 5 people I get a free pass to sleep with if the opportunity ever arose. I like to keep track of my husbands 5 too.

In my case, when I had my first RNY I had my 18 month old daughter who didn't walk (she still doesn't, we found out she has a rare disorder, Angelman Syndrome)and I had to pick her up to do things with her. I waited 4 weeks per my Doctors orders but that still wasn't long enough. Now I know if you have an open RNY you really shouldn't pick up anything heavier than 5lbs for 4-6weeks. On the possitive side, alot of times if you need a hernia repair you can get a tummy tuck done at the same time on your insurance companys dime.
Hugs,
Dawn
