Two week post-op visit..
I saw my sturgeon today (or I should say his resident) for my 2 week post-op visit and everything went well. I lost 19 lbs, so I was happy.
He did get on my case about me not exercising -- ah shuddup kid -- and I told him I was planning to return to the gym next week... I guess he has to give everyone the "you need to exercise speech" so I just humored him, since he knows nothing about me or how I've been working out like a maniac for 4 years or lost 80 lbs and kept it off for 5 years. He didn't ask anything about me.
Anyway, everything else was fine. One of my incisions started oozing some lovely green stuff today but he told me that was normal.
On the way home I had some chilli from WENDY'S YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.... flavor!
Way to go Vi!!!!!!!!!! 19 lbs. is fabulous!!!
Ohhhh....Wendy's chili sounds soooooo....good! I can't wait! I am still only on full liquids (1st. day).
The exercise will come. It was beautful weather here today in MI, so I finally got out to walk. I can't say that I have been really good about it either . Let the surgeon's have their insides rearranged and see if they want to exercise right away
HUGS!

Hi Vi, today was my first post-op visit as well. They say I've lost 16 lbs, but like you, I have meaningful prior weight loss so I count it all together. I didn't get a lecture about exercising, though the nutritionist did want to know what my plans are. I told her my first plan was to not be in pain after standing for 5 minutes at a time, then I would be interested in slowly ramping up an exercise program that includes walking and riding my recumbent bike.
Green ooze from an incision? How is that normal?
My staples were removed today, and one incision let out a stream of fluid, slightly bloody and runny. So now that incision needs to be packed 3 times a day. Not sure how I'll do that, as I can't see the incision past my oh-so-bodacious left breast. And I don't think I'm dextrous enough to do it with a mirror. I think my husband will need to steel his nerves and handle it for me.
Did they give you a bad time about eating foods not on the list yet? I got a stern lecture for that. But I told them it was either that, or get no protein at all, so I made the choice I thought was right for me.
Chili from Wendy's, huh? That flavor sounds good, though I don't think I'm feeling quite ready for that sort of bulky food just yet.

Sheryl, I think being able to stand for 5 minutes without being in pain sounds fair enough to me!! I hate it that some doctor's come off with the "holier than thou" attitude... I'm a rebel and I ignore it! So long as I know it won't hurt me, that is.
As for the lovely green ooze... I remember having some of that when I opened up one of the stitches in my c-section 11 years ago, so I didn't worry about it too much. He told me it was something about the fat breaking down and oozing out... sounds gross to me but so long as it's not an infection, I'm ok with it!
They didn't give me a hard time about what I ate though because everything I had was on my list, HOWEVER I omitted the minor detail that I had started it 3 days ahead of schedule.
My feeling is, if I'm getting enough protein, they shouldn't complain!
As for the chili, a few of the other new post-ops had suggested it to me, so I figured it was safe to try and it really did agree with my stomach, so I was happy!
I had my two week on Wednesday. Down 18 from when I arrived for the surgery (25 from when I left the hosp. thanks to the gain from surgery). It feels like more as I have dropped a lot of inches already.
I had the chili also, but only after blending it to a liquid. It still tasted good. I technically start pureed on Monday - can't wait. I miss food and really struggle with the protein drinks.
Glad you are doing well.
Hi Mary, someone told me that the protein drinks will become tolerable again. I hope so because I have 6 cans and numerous bottles of this stuff in the house! I used to like my protein shakes with banana and ice and milk, maybe if I start making them that way again, I'll start liking them again. I've been able to tolerate banana. The nutritionist at my doctor's office told me to stay away from bananas because they have too much natural sugar and then she tried to sell me HER protein shake which has MORE sugar than most fruit! GO FIGURE! Needless to say, she is not my nutritionist anymore.
I THOUGHT IF SOMETHING HAD COLOR ... IT WAS INFECTED!?! GREEN WOULD HAVE GROSSED ME OUT!
ALL I HAVE ARE 6 TEENY, TINY INCISIONS WITH 2 STITCHES EACH & A SMALL HOLE WHERE THE DRAIN WAS. THEY WANTED TO TAKE THE DRAIN OUT THE DAY AFTER THEY RELEASED ME FROM THE HOSPITAL (3 DAYS OUT) BUT I WAS LEARY AS I WAS STILL REALLY DRAINING ... SO THEY WAITED 1 MORE DAY (BIG DEAL) & TOOK IT OUT ON THE 4th DAY.
I HAVEN'T HAD ANY DRAINAGE OR OOZING, BUT I DO HAVE SOME PINK SKIN AROUND ONE INCISION THAT WAS PLACED WITHIN MY OLD GALL BLADDER SCAR.
NICK SAID HE WAS TOLD THAT I HAVE DISSOLVING STITCHES. I DON'T HAVE TO GO BAC****IL DECEMBER 8th ... NO 2-WEEK APPOINTMENT ...
