The Dreaded "GAS"
Okay, I've read that almost every post-op has smelly gas issues. Not me of course (liar, liar, pants on fire). So does anyone know why this happens? Also, please tell me (and don't lie) if this is a permanent condition, or does it eventually leave.
I laughed pre-op about finally being able to get revenge on Bill, but hell, I can't stand it myself, much less inflict it on anyone else. Not even my worst enemy would deserve such treatment. It is so intense that it literally makes me gag. Not to mention how dirty I feel. At this rate I want to wash the bedding EVERY day.
Take care,
Di

Flatulence
It is important to remember that everyone has gas in the digestive tract. Gas comes from two main sources: swallowed air and normal breakdown of certain foods by harmless bacteria that is naturally present in the large intestines. Many carbohydrate foods cause gas; fat and protein cause very little. The foods that are known to cause more gas are beans, veggies, some fruits, soft drinks, whole grains/wheat and bran, cows milk and cows milk products, foods containing sorbitol and dietetic products.
? Eat your meals more slowly, chew food thoroughly, avoid eating chewing gum and hard candy, eliminate carbonated beverages. If you are still having symptoms try remedies such as Acidophilus, Gas X®, and Gaviscon®. Devrom® can help eliminate offensive odors. You can order Devrom® factory-direct at (800) 453-8898.
I don't have horrible gas problems, until I go to the bathroom. I can't believe how LOUD it is. I dread having to "go" in public now. Such a big noise for such a tiny bit of poop.
oh....and I would have to eat a 5 lb tin of beans to even come close to gettting revenge on my John. That mans fart's can peel paint from the walls and make you go crosseyed for 5 minutes.

Hi Ginny,
It's my understanding that the gas pains are quite common, and they will go away. Mine certainly did. I understand they are even worse for the 'LAP' patients.
As far as the bowel movements go.....there isn't much because you aren't putting much in.
Hang in there, it will get better soon.
Take care,
Di
