re: Happy and down 32.5lbs
I'm so happy. I saw my surgeon today and i'm down 32.5lbs sincew my surgery on 10-18-05. He's amazed that i've lost that much. I told him it's because i'm still on liquid post-op diet.
I told him my only fear was that since I start eating 2 oz of food 5x's a day as of tomorrow, I'd be afraid to eat as I don't want to gain the w8 back. He's so great he said, " I won't gain it back because I seem so motivated and that I want this to happen". He also said to take the eating slow and only eat what I can and not to overdue it.
I got the ok to go back to Curves and resume my workouts.
Have any of you feared eating and gaining the w8 back. I want to try to eat, but I also want to still do the liquid diet.
Thanks for listening,
Lisa J
Hi Lisa, Congrats on your progress, but definitely don't be afraid to eat! I'm sure your surgeon told you that if your body stays in starvation mode (which is a natural survival reaction), it will shut down and start hanging on to the fat and it will become very hard for the scale to move!
I know it's natural for us to be afraid to eat again for fear of gaining weight, after all, isn't that what always happened to us in the past? But that was the OLD way of thinking... the new way is that we have this wonderful tool that will not allow us to overeat the way we used to and that weight will keep coming off. And IF you should gain a pound or two, just remember it's WATER and it will come off again, no matter what!

Hello Shrinking Vi! How are you doing? I know that I haven't posted in awhile, I have been busy with my online college courses and losing more weight! I have lost a total of 29.8 pounds since my last post-op visit, I weigh 308.7 as of 10/25/05 and I know I have lost more weight since then. I don't have a scale, so I will go and weigh myself either at my hospital or at the pharmacy. Yesterday, I tried on these pair of pants that used to be too tight for me, and now, they are too baggy on me. When you get a chance, check out my profile page, it has been spruced up and they added my pre-op picture and discarded the distorted picture of me! Well, I will talk to you later!
Lisa,
That's an AMAZING weight loss. My surgery was 1 day before you and I've lost 16. Keep it up!
Don't be afraid to eat food. 2 oz is only 4 tbsp of food. That's nothing. Your total intake for the day will be only 10 oz. I used to go out and order steaks bigger than that, plus the salad, potatoes, veggies, and bread. Believe me...you won't gain the weight back.
Besides....when you eat "real" food, you will be amazed at how much more energy you have for your curves workouts.
