RNY 10/4, now exercising
I can hardly believe it! I've survived 5 sessions at the gym ! Not that anybody is pushing me, but I've been anxious to get some "real" exercise because my work is very physcially demanding. I went back to the gym 3 times last week, and 2 times this week, and am actually walking on the treadmill, doing the eliptical trainer, doing a few select weight machines, all with less weight and less intensity than before, but I do believe I'll be able to go back to work and survive an entire 10-hour day without a nap!
How is everybody else from early October doing? Everybody back on their feet mostly? How has going back to work been?
Wow, you had surgery on 10/24 and hoped to get back to work this soon? My dear, don't ru**** I'm 5 weeks postop, and seriously, had been worried that I wasn't feeling well enough to survive a work day...... it has taken me this long to just get back to staying awake all day! I have been very blessed to be healing without problems, but was pretty shocked at how dis-abled I was, even for someone who had been very active despite my weight. It took a concentrated effort to get to this point, and I'm not back to "normal" even yet; now I know why the typical recovery period is 6 weeks for this kind of MAJOR surgery !!!
Hope you perk up soon.....keep drinking tha****er and liquid protein intake......
I had surgery 10/3/2005 i went to the doctor yesterday he says to start exercising so i will try tonight! I went back to work oct 24th! i could use a nap during the mid afternoon but i'm hanging in there. I'm having alot of anxiety so the doctor gave me Xanax. are you experiencing any anxiety or depression?
Dolores - not having any anxiety or depression, but I go to work Monday, and we'll see after that! Seriously, I'm glad you got some Xanax. It's reported to be good stuff.
I tried a very nice exercise video for those days when I just can't get to the gym -- it's Leslie Sansone "Walk Away the Pounds." 20 minutes, just to get everything moving, in the privacy of your own home. Comes with 1/2 mile, 1 mile, and 2 mile walks. I can do the 1/2 mile one right now.
