Around Oct 24th How are you??
I had surgery on the 25th, laproscopic RNY.
1) Are you in pain?
Yes, still feeling pain, but stopped taking rx painkiller yesterday. I can deal with this, as long as I rest often enough. A couple of very tender areas, I think due to scarring from prior surgery.
2) Do your incisions hurt?
No, not the incisions; it's inside deeper where it hurts. Coughing or sneezing is murder!
3) What have you been eating? or should I say drikning?
Water, protein drink (can only tolerate one, the others are completely unpalateable), poached eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, and today I tried turkey baby food (not great, but adding salt helped tremendously).
4) DO you get dizzy?
Not a problem with that.
5) Are you weak?
Incredibly weak. No stamina. I even type more slowly than normal.
6) What are you doing during the day? Do you stay in bed, walk around, go out, drive, cook?? etc...
Just came home yesterday from hotel stay; I have twin 3 year olds, so it wasn't "safe" to come home sooner. I spend my time in bed, sitting up, and walking occasionally. The only cooking I have done is for myself. No interest in going out yet.
7) Do you regret having had the surgery?
No. But damn, this part has been awfully hard: the pain, nausea, inability to even drink enough water to feel hydrated. Getting better each day. I mean, it's only been a week.
8) Was your WLS very painful?
Nothing that pain meds didn't allow me to tolerate, except one very tender spot.
9) Are you getting support at home?
Could not survive without it. We have a live in nanny who is helping to care for me, and cares for the children until my husband is home from work.
10) Do you feel skinnier?
Feel? I am! Lost 10 lbs since I entered the hospital. Lost 49 lbs since last June.
