I'm down 14 lbs! Of course the doctor says I'm down 20. I say "no I'm not I was 285 on the day of surgery" and he told me they count the loss from the people's highest, which in my case was an extra 6 lbs. That's CHEATING!!!! But hey, if they want to call it 20, be my guest. I'll still call it 14. Now that I went to lactose free milk, I'm having no tummyaches (hopefully will stay this way), and I will try to reintroduce 'real' milk very slowly, but no more double strength milk. I have 3 days left on the evil antibiotic and I think I'm home free, except for taking my vitamins, actigall (to keep from getting gall stones), and the reglan (which is so sickly sweet orangey flavored it makes me sick). Monday I get to try eggs!!!!!! And cheese!!!!! Sheryl

I'm jealous! I had adjustable lapband surgery Monday (the 24th) and will be on liquids for 3 weeks! Then "mush" for another 3 before I get to have some real food. I hope your eggs are the best you've ever tasted!!!! Nancy

So glad your tummy is better! I haven't had trouble with skim milk, but 2% is the death knell.... I'm 3 wks and 5 days post op..... I can't eat eggs yet, not in any form -- instant pain! String cheese goes down good if I over-chew it. Cottage cheese didn't sit well until 3 weeks postop. Blended soups are going down well, but must be careful about not having too many big chunks of things floating. Yogurt is the best, best. Refried beans didn't go well the first time- but I intend to try again. Haven't tried peanut butter yet. Isn't this fun? Cyndi

Thanks everyone for your well wishes and your congrats. I went ahead and tried an egg and piece of cheese today. We left the house early this morning and I had nothing buy a crystal light and finally at around 2 pm the hunger was making my stomach hurt. The doctor said when I felt ready and I was sooo hungry. It went down great and tasted sooooo good. Then I followed it this evening with well cooked pasta (chewed like 100 times/bite) and a piece of string cheese. Everything stayed down fine and I was really full for the first time since surgery. And it tasted sooo good (did I already mention that?) I was starting to feel like I didn't actually have a pouch because I was always hungry....now I know I do. Plus I only had to have 2 protein shakes and STILL had 94 gms of protein for the day. It's so much easier when you can get protein from food! Plus it tasted soooo good! (after 2 weeks of broth and cream of wheat I'm allowed to be amazed). Take care! Sheryl

Hi, Sheryl, I'm 18 days out and I know what you mean about being hungry! I can't take another sweet drink or jello or pudding. How did you have your egg? Did you have string cheese? I made spaghetti for my kids yesterday and I was dying to eat. I did have a couple of spoonfuls of sauce. Not really nutritious, but I'm starved. And I'm really feeling weak, as I know I'm not getting in my protein. I can't do cream of wheat and broth anymore. How did you calculate your 94 gms of protein for that day? Thanks, Debi

Debi, I asked for it lightly scrabled but not gooey. I can't stand gooey eggs. My sheet said I'm supposed to have the eggs poached, softly boiled, or scrambled (of course I wasn't supposed to start until today, but whatever). Part of my program at the bariatric center is to keep a journal of all my foods, medicines, exercises, recreational activities. I write down everything that I put into my mouth and also write down how many ounces it was and the grams of protein. For instance, string cheese is 6 gms of protein for a 1 oz stick. An egg is 7 grams of protein. I'm allowed to start 1 tbsp of penut butter this week, and I made sure to buy the natural refridgerated kind, cause it's all natural and has a lot more protein. it's also higher in fat, but at 1 tbsp, the nutritionist said it was okay. Also, milk and soy milk is 8 gms protein per cup. I bought some Soy Chai tea latte type drink that is really yummy and is also another 8 gms of protein. I add unjury to the Chai latte and that adds another 20 gms protein. I haven't tried all the new foods for next two weeks yet (in my program week 3 and 4 are the same). I still get to try mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, organic baby food, well cooked rice, mashed fruit, oatmeal, and a few other things. I'll probably skip the oatmeal as it reminds me too much of the cream of wheat I am soooo sick of. I'm probably going to have well cooked pasta a few times this week. I see the nutritionist tomorrow morning where I'll have to fess up to starting week 3 a little early. I hope she's not upset. I just couldn't handle one more day of flavorless food. sheryl
