I need a hobby...
Anyone have any suggestions? I'm bored out of my mind at home and I am just NOT a big TV watcher anymore. I love the internet and I'm a major computer junkie (got 2 desktops downstairs and my laptop by my bed) but how much web surfing can a gal do? My son suggested I go on msn.com and play games, but that's not really my thing either. I DID however go online and order a couple of books (romance novels of course) from the TOP 10 best seller list... that should amuse me for a day or two. Oh and I joined blockbuster online last month and have already watched about 10 DVD's. So if you know of a good movie, send me the title so I can add it to my on line QUE!
One of my friends suggested knitting, but I've tried that in the past and it's not my thing... she said she might come over and teach me how to crochet or cross stitch, I'm desperate so I said OK!
Anyone else going stir crazy or have any suggestions?? I took 4 weeks off from work but at this point I'm thinking of going back a week early, part time. I don't think I could handle full time just yet. I have plenty of energy now that I'm home doing nothing, but I'm sure that will change when I start moving about alot again.
I guess I'm feeling remarkably well (which is a good thing) and not needing naps during the day because I sleep fine at night. I really think the fact that I was working out for 4 years (I always said I was the fittest fat person I knew) prior to this surgery has helped my energy quite a bit or maybe I just got lucky! I'm looking forward to getting back to the gym, maybe after my post op appointment next week!
So if you have any suggestions on how to amuse myself, please pass them along!
Thanks, Vi
P.S. Like my new profile name?
Violet,
I am a voracious reader and can usually pull out a book a day, even with tv time, kid time, and husband time (although considering what we all just went through there hasn't been any of that!). I read all genres of fiction, but if you like romance my absolute favorites are jennifer crusie and julie garwood, especially her older stuff (historical...scottish highlands). Her new stuff is more murder based but still Hot! For Jennifer Crusie, "Bet Me" and "Crazy for you" are my favs.
Also, I've been getting into beading...you know making bead (glass, plastic, crystal) jewelry to show off my extensive dichroic glass pendant collection (I said in my profile I'm slightly obsessed and that's not an exaggeration). It's really fun, you can get the stuff at a bead store or in a craft store. Plus it's really easy.

Ooooh, the beading sounds wonderful! I'll have to go to the craft store and pick some stuff up. I guess they'll show me what I need to buy when I get there? Now I'm excited because jewelry is right up my alley and a woman at work recently showed up with a couple of beautiful pieces she had made and I told her I would love to learn stuff like that! Great suggestion Sheryl!!
I'm going to go on line and look for those 2 books too!
Thanks a bunch!

Violet,
I am a day behind you on healing but can see how my time off can start making me stir crazy. One thing I have done in the past and plan on doing this year is:
Come up with an idea for something to make for holiday gifts for:
teachers, neighbors, hair dresser, etcs.
For the last 2 years, I made sugar scrub. It is really easy. You can buy all of the ingredients online as well as pretty jars. I think have a Word document (that I would be willing to share) that serves as a pretty tag with a happy holiday message (so you don't even have to wrap it. I usually make about 20 and people are anxiously awaiting their yearly supply. You have to pay $25 for the same stuff at bath and body works. I would be happy to help with the recipe, etc. if you are interested.
This year, I feel like doing something different. I am going to start searching the web for other ideas. I may open a new thread out here to see if I can get ideas as well.
