What is everyone eating?
Well, first, they are all different. I was only on clear liquid until the day after I came home from the hospital, then I started a mix of clear and full liquids (in the form of carnation instant breakfast no sugar added and skim milk). I saw my surgeon at 10 days out, and he, along with my dietician, advanced me to soft protein (egg, cottage cheese).
I thought that was rather soon (although I was happy about it), and asked. What they told me (mind you, I go to a weight center, they have had thousands of patients) was that they found that if they did not advance the diet quickly enough, people would experiment on their own. So, they'd rather help you on the road to recovery than have you attempt it solo.
I'm sure your doctor will give you specifics, and it's important that you follow them. As far as I can tell from these boards, no two doctors are alike in what they have you follow with after the surgery. None of them are wrong, just different, and it is key that you do what your own care team dictates.
Yep, your Dr will advance you... I went to milk and oatmeal/cream of wheat. then you will work your way up... you are starting from scratch retraining your new tummy and your future body to eat right! You never never want to eat like you did before surgery.. Honestly who needs cake and cookies and icecream when you can have an honest to goodness LIFE!!! And I have one now!!! I am 6 months out and very happy with 4- 6 ounces per meal. and cheese for snacks

I'm still doing the liquid thing too. Boring! But it will pass...
I have veggie broth, protein shake and try to choke down a Protica Profect vial for that 25 grams of protein, but it's really getting hard to drink those bad boys.
The good thing though is that my water intake is getting better. I'm bored to death at home though. I need a hobby!
