Itchy incisions

Anybody else have horribly itchy incisions? My surgery was lap, and I swear every single one of my incisions is swollen, red and unbearably itchy! They're not infected, but I'm wondering if I'm having a reaction to the sutures dissolving and being absorbed? They itched a little at first, then stopped and now this. I've been putting hydrocortisone on them, but the second it wears off they're making me miserable again... All of them but two (my bellybutton and the one where the drain was) are 99% healed, but still itchy. Rebecca 10/14/05 227/209/130

I have this, too. In fact, my whole abdomen itches, and once it starts, I start itching all over (ah, the power of suggestion!). All I can do is take a benedryl when it gets very bad, and try to distract myself. So far, I've avoided putting anything on them, as for some reason, I thought I read that six weeks out is when it is safe.

call your Dr. I didnt have the problem... I have had 2 c sestions and gall bladder etc.. 5 stomach surgeries in all and I used to just spray dermaplast on the spots that itched.. Linda
