For you week 1 post-ops

Where has all the flavor gone???? I don't regret for a second getting this operation, but this clear liquid diet is sooooo boring. Every meal is the same 1 oz of broth, jello, and juice. Protein drinks inbetween. SF popsicle now and again. Crystal light and water. Is it crazy that these are the only clear liquids on my list? The only thing that isn't fruity is the broth. My husband has now ordered pizza twice this week and eaten it in front of me. Oh the smell!!!! I'm looking forward the the cream of wheat and all, but if you look at the sample menus by week, it's ALL pretty flavorless until week 6. I need some spice in my life. Also...if my operation was Mon. oct 17, but I didn't eat until the 18th, when is the end of week one so I can move on to some milk and cream of wheat? Sunday? Monday? Tuesday? I'm very confused.

I'm with you girl! I want something with TASTE and TEXTURE, but I try not to think about it! I'm sipping these protica protein vials and thinking of it as medicine to keep me healthy. I'm trying to think of this time as a detoxicating fast because that's pretty much all it is. Just keep focusing on the end result! I've been smelling food even when there is none around, and dreaming about it. LOL! And I can't wait for the cream of wheat or even a slice of cheese. But I know that will all come in time. Hang in there and be patient, this will pass. HUGS, Vi P.S. I'm counting the end of week one as the 27th!! I don't care when I started eating, I'm just adding 7 days to my surgery!!

Violet..... Cheese is good food. That's week 3 and another full week away for me. I decided to take your advice about 7 days from surgery. Today is my 7th day including surgery day, so tomorrow it's Cream of Wheat for me!!!! Sheryl

Good, we need to keep spreading the word on those vials! I just drank one for breakfast. I got alot of the girls in my local support group on them now too. They really are a lifesaver. I just ordered another case. If you like the sampler from the protica web site, and decide to order more, go to UBID.com -- you can get them for about $2 a vial there (by the case of 24 vials), which will save you a little money!

You had ur operation the same day as me, and I advanced to full liquids(thin mashed potatoes, thin grits, yogurt, egg) yesterday. My paperwork said I only had to do the clear liquids 5 days. I tried s/f Jello last week and it made me , I also tried s/f ff pudding yesterday that made me weak and I felt like I was going to pass out, so NO more. I don't even want them anylonger. I myself can't drink the chrystal light (loved it before surgery) but dumped the 2nd day I was home on it, I think from the citric acid, so it's like when I think about it now. Hugs, Melissa

Melissa, I don't get anything this week except lite yogurt, s/f ff pudding, cream of wheat, cream of rice (had to buy in baby isle), strained cream soups and carnation instant breakfast. That's it. No mashed pototoes, eggs, etc for antoher full week. Grits aren't even on my list and I LOVE them. I haven't dumped yet. In fact I'm starting to think somethings wrong, cause I get HUNGRY and 3 oz doesn't usually fill me up. Plus I'm having NO PROBLEM getting 64 oz of liquids/day. I can drink a whole cup of broth in about 5 minutes. And I drink TONS of Crystal lite-every flavor. I've even had no problem with juice. I'm hoping this "thicker" diet will help fill me up more. I've lost 9 lbs as of today, so I'm not doing badly, but with less than 500 calories/day because of all the low cal clear liquids, who wouldn't? Dumping doesn't sound pleasant. I'm not looking forward to it. Sheryl

Cream of wheat isn't on my diet, but the grits are. I've lost 12 pounds so far and started protein shakes saturday and they are to me. I am tolerating egg, and carb freedom yogurt which is a little protein but not enough . I've got to find a way to get it in. You are right dumping is NO fun, I had bad dry heaves, a feeling that I was going to pass out and the runs. It's it the most aweful thing I could go through, well except Migraines, but everything at this point is trial and error, you live and learn. Hugs, Melissa 241/221/???

I had my surgery the same day...Oct 17th....I have advanced to mashed potatoes yesterday. Made egg salad today and had 2 tbs. of that (pureed) and 3 crackers. It was the best steak I've ever eaten after having to do liquids so long!
