I'm home but with pneumonia
My operation was on Monday morning and I feel fine except for rattling lungs and a pesky low grade fever. I came home yesterday, but had to go back in today for chest x-ray, bloodwork, and fecal tests. They said I have either bad bronchitis or a not-so-bad pneumonia, but it was splitting hairs as treatment is the same. I've lost only 2 lbs which sucks, but I'm not having any trouble eating my 3 oz meals plus all my fluids. I finally found some Isopure in stock and have been drinking a lot of that until I make the other stuff with milk. My bowels were moving before I even left the hospital, so no problems there ((except for the noise--holy crap (no pun intended)--wasn't expecting that)).
The medicine I take to sleep because of my back problems has severe interactions with my pneumonia antiboitics (as in heart arithmia) so it's 4:30 am and I'm wandering the house. I need to call the doctor tomorrow and find out about something else I can take instead. I hope they make it in a liquid because these crushed pills are NASTY. I have no idea how I'm going to keep that up for 4 weeks! And after 3 days, I'm already sick of jello and broth. BORING. I'm really looked forward to next week and the cream of wheat. It's the little things in life that make you happy!
Hey Cheryl,
Got my fingers crossed for you and sending best wishes to get over the pneumonia. My surgery date is Monday, October 24th. I have allergies and asthma as well as some other co-morbidities so I took the precaution of taking a preventive pneumonia and flu shot early last week, so I am hoping that will help me in the recovery period. Meanwhile, here's to joining you on the Losing Side next week!

Sorry to hear that you are feelin' bad. Won't be long and you'll be lookin' back on this week with a smile and saying, "I made it!"
As for your crushed pills, have you tried adding them to diet koolaid or jello? Probably doesn't help hide the flavor, eh?
Keep your chin up and just remember, next week is just around the corner! You will make it and somewhere along the way, you'll be feelin' better than ever.
