Checking In October Post Ops
Fluids are getting a bit easier for me .. I'm using jello and SF popsicles to increase my fluid intake.
Protein is still hard. Thick drinks or real milk irritates my pouch. It scared me away from the instant breakfast for too long.
I had egg drop soup last night. 8g of protein for one cup and it went down so easily. I it!
My two week follow up is this afternoon. I'm not supposed to be driving until today.. But, I've been driving for two days. Hopefully, I don't get his scorn for driving and being on my own with two kids.
Work.. I went back Monday night for a couple of hours. Yesterday I worked from home and went in for a few hours. I told my boss I wanted to ease back in this week. She has told the girls twice to depend on me being there. I set that straight real fast! I don't feel comfortable being back at work completely. Working in a lab is not the place to come back to if I'm shaky at all.
Have a great humpday all!
Heather

Hi Heather,
I can't believe how easy it's been for me. I am only a week post op
I get my fluids in with no problem. I've been eating foods with protien like cottage cheese and ricotta cheese, low carb yogart, blended pea and bean soups refriend beans with melted chedder. I've had no problems with food either. Last night I ate a whole cup of blended pasta and bean soup for dinner. I do need to drink a protien drink or protien pudding to up my protien. I have Atkins shakes that I liked before but now the smell gags me.
I don't see my doctor for a month. She has me on blended foods for that long and that seems a little rough.
I go back to work Nov.7th and I've already lost 12lbs this week
I'm glad to hear that you are doing well also!!
hi everyone ..glad to hear your all doing good..i am 2 weeks post op today feeling good for the most part...stomachs been a little crampy the past 2 days whenever something enters it...my doctor keeps us on clear liquids for 4 weeks..im not having any trouble getting my fluids in just getting sick of the soup broth...i see him nov then will be on i believe a soft diet...not really looking forward to it as im not hungry and sometimes the thought of food makes me sick...plus scared to eat the wrong thing and get sick but i know the reality of it is eventually we all will go through it...as far as weight ive lost 18 lbs in 12 days...so im not complaining about that at all... have good day all hugs lynda
FUNNY HOW ALL DOCTORS ARE SOOOOOOOOO DIFFERENT REGARDING PRE- & POST-OP FOODS. MINE SAYS JUST STAY WITH PUREED FOODS NO THICKER TEXTURE THAN APPLESAUCE.
BUT, I'M A LITTLE MORE OF A CAUTIOUS PERSON, SO I'M STAYING CLOSE TO THE LIQUIDS FOR A BIT, I THINK.
HAVE YOU TRIED EGG-DROP SOUP OR JAPANESE MUSHROOM & LEEK SOUP? NICE FLAVORS.
A MAJOR CONGRATS ON THE 18 #s WOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!!
GOD BLESS YOU, MS LYNDA DAWN & NICK
Hi, all. I'm 1 week post op tomorrow and still feel like crap. My Dr. has me on clear liquids for 2 weeks, then 2 weeks of blended liquids. I'm just worried about getting in all my clear liquids right now. There's not much to choose from, since broth gags me. And I'm not crazy about jello. I get my staples and drain out tomorrow, so maybe I'll have a better outlook. Right now I hurt, am depressed and don't get much sleep. And does anyone but me feel hungry the first week? I thought that would be the last thing I would be feeling, but I sure could go for some real food! I've got to stop watching commercials. Thanks for letting me vent!
