THANK YOU, MS NANCY. I COPIED THE DIET PART & PUT IT IN MY "WLS FOLDER" AS I AM BUYTING POST-OP FOODS NOW. MY SURGEON ISN'T THAT DETAILED OR LIMITING, BUT I AM A "DETAIL NUT" & I'M GOING TO TAKE IT SLOW & EASY. I LIKE THE DIET HE HAS YOU ON ... LETS YOUR POUCH HAVE TIME TO CALM DOWN & HEAL A BIT. THAT IS WONDERFUL THAT YOU AREN'T HAVING ANY ADVERSE REACTIONS TO THE FOODS; I HEAR THAT CAN BE AWFUL. HUBBY IS ACTUALLY GETTING INTO MY WAY OF EATING ... BOTH TO SUPPORT ME & TO HELP HIMSELF BECAUSE OF DIABETES. HE'S NOTICED HE'S EATING LESS & TURNING DOWN NORMAL GOODIES FOR S-F GOODIES. WOW! MS MARIAN GOT A WLS COOKBOOK & IS GOING TO COOK OUT OF IT FOR HERSELF & HER HUSBAND. LIKE SHE SAID, IF SHE COOKS IT, HE'LL EAT IT SO WHY NOT COOK HEALTHIER FOR BOTH! MS BARBARA BROUGHT AN EAS HIGH-PROTEIN BAR TO OUR SUPPORT MEETING. SHE IS ALMOST A YEAR OUT & SAYS SHE FEELS LIKE SHE IS CHEATING, THEY ARE SO GOOD. THAT'S HOW I FEEL NOW WHEN I EAT "PURE PROTEIN - AMERICA'S PROTEIN BAR" CHOCOLATE DELUXE. IT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD. S-F, LOW-CARB, HIGH-PROTEIN FOODS HAVE COME A LONG WAY! I KEEP WATCHIN' CO ON THE WEATHER CHANNEL NOW THAT I KNOW YOU LIVE THERE. I LIVED A COUPLE YEARS IN WISCONSIN AS A CHILD. IT WAS WONDERLAND FOR ME, BUT WORK, WORK, WORK FOR MY FOLKS ... EVERYTHING FROZEN ... TIRE CHAINS ... PIPES BURSTING ... HIGH HEATING BILLS ... SO, I CAN IMAGINE. THANKS FOR THE DETAILED INFO ... I REALLY APPRECIATE IT, MS NANCY! GOD BLESS YOU DAWN & NICK

RNY on 10/06/05 with
I had Lap RNY 10/6/05 - got home 10/10 after complications and blood levels - 3 transfusions. 1 week post op today - weight was 275 on day of surgery. today it is 277 - very disappointed that i'm still not back to pre-surgery weight. do'nt know what i am doing wrong. have had issues with sleeping and pain. doc finally gave me ambian yesterday to help me sleep. i'm not nauseous or vomitting - tollerating clear liquids, protein shakes, pocicles, and jello - but the weight isn't moving... does anyone see what I am doing wrong?? pain at this moment 5 -was an 8 before having that JP Drain out yesterday I'm walking around the house - I don't have the strength to do much else than that right now. suggestions / comments?

Anne- Your body is dealing with a lot - 3 transfusions- that's big. Well, i think that since you were in the hospital a little longer, that probably means you had iv antibiotics/fluids longer, which is a lot of extra water weight which i wouldn't be too concerned about. it sounds like you are doing well. Keep on sipping, and doing what the MD tells ya, and hopefully you will see the results you deserve soon soon soon. DOn't be discourage and keep up the faith.

Hi there, so sorry to hear about your complications. Please don't be discouraged. I had no complications and gained 4 pounds while in the hospital and it took me six days to get to pre-hospital weight and I was walking on my treadmill 30 mins per day and on clear liquid diet. Go figure...then I lost 4 pounds the next day and then 1 pound every day or two. Sometimes it just takes a while. I had a friend who was just Weigh****chers dieting who wouldn't lose for like 5 weeks then over 3 days would loose about 10 pounds. Everyone is different and our bodies all respond differently to trauma, which is what you've just undergone. Just remember, EVERYONE looses weight with this surgery, especially if you follow your surgeon's and nutritionalist's guidelines. Keep your chin up, and rest. Let your mind and body heal. Stay away from the scales for a while if you can. Trust that this to shall pass and you will soon be loosing and walking around and feeling better. I'll pray for you that you heal fast and feel better soon. If I can help in any way, let me know. Nancy

YOU'RE ONLY OUT OF THE HOSPITAL 3 DAYS, MS ANNE ... &, THIS AFTER 3 TRANSFUSIONS & FLUIDS ... I DON'T THINK YOU'RE DOING ANYTHING WRONG ... JUST IMPATIENT & NOT GIVING YOURSELF ENOUGH TIME TO REST & RECOUPERATE. DON'T BE DISAPPOINTED, SWEETIE ... ONE OF THE THINGS YOUR BODY WILL DO IS HOLD ON TO ALL THE FLUIDS IT CAN AFTER A TRAUMATIC INCIDENT SUCH AS SURGERY. THIS IS THE BODY'S WAY OF PADDING THE ORGANS FOR PROTECTION. LET YOUR BODY WORK THROUGH THIS, THIS NEXT WEEK ... REST!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU'VE JUST HAD MAJOR, MAJOR SURGERY ... WITH COMPLICATIONS ... YOU CAN'T FORCE THE BODY TO DO MORE THAN IT'S ABLE ... BE GOOD TO YOURSELF. YOU'RE ON THE LOSING SIDE ... NOW, JUST LET YOUR BODY TAKE A BREATHER FROM ALL THAT'S BEEN DONE TO IT! YOU'LL SEE WONDERFUL RESULTS! GOD BLESS YOU DAWN & NICK
