well, i did have my surgery on the 6th and i can tell you it was worse than i thought it would be....it is definitly true when they say this needs to be your last choice...my surgery lasted 4 1/2 hours and after wards i can say it would have been easier giving birth to triplet. (maybe i did who knows???) when they got in there they found my liver to be enlarged from all of the fats and had to do a biopsy. they did take my catheter out that night (4 hours after surgery due to my insistance and i immediately went to the bathroom to pee) the battery went out on my morphine pump and when they replaced it they didn't reset it so i went without for 4 hours until i told them something wasn't right. i was hooked up to a heart monitor the whole time as well as oxygen. i was so THIRSTY!! i was able to have ice chips the next day. i was so glad that i had my husband there with me the whole time and will never take him for granted again. he did everything for me and let me tell you that you need someone to help you. i have lost 18 lbs but i can say that i really don't care about anything like that right now. it is hard for me to drink water because it just kinda thuds in my stomach. i am drinking sugar free grape koolaid and having sugar free pudding, jello, and instant breakfast. i go to the doctor to have my tube removed on wednesday. yippee............i wish everyone the best of luck and hope they are realistic about this whole thing. it is most definitly a tool not a remedy. i still get hungry and the smell of food is inticing i just can't have any. oh well good luck with the surgeries this week. hugs and prayers cheryl

Sorry your hospital experience was so bad..It really isnt for everyone..But now you are on the loosing side and in a month or so you will be telling people you would do it again if you had too. I feel so healthy now and I still have 100 lbs to go for goal. ( I am down 80#) I am in a size 18 that I havent put my butt into for 25 years!! I am going to be a swinging 50 year old grandma of REAL 15 month old triplets!!(see profile) Linda

Cheryl~ Ouch! You did have a rough go. I was the worst patient ever in the recovery unit. Imagine me minutes after surgery trying to sit up because it hurt less to sit up. I was only coherant enough to remember that I did it a few times. After that they must have drugged me up. It is a tool and for me it is a slow tool. I'm learning what foods I can stand today and it's not much fun. I have lot of gas and I miss chugging a glass of water or frosty cold milk. Things will get better. I have it from a grad that the first ten days are the hardest. Once you make it over that hump it's just the way your life is. Only 6 more days until we are 10 days post op. I can't wait. Hugs and prayers for you too! Heather PS.. no loss yet.. It will happen!!!
