Had the endoscopy Thursday, the GI doc just said there is gastritis and it shouldn't affect my sugery date Oct 14th. But then I got home from work last night and my daughter said a doctor's office called and she did a terrible job at message-taking, said all she could understand through the lady's accent was "9am" and "antibiotics". I called the GI doc's service this afternoon and left a message. A little while later a different doc called back, I explained the situation, but unfortuntely without being in the office, or knowing my case, he couldn't help me. All he could offer was that I call the office Monday - but they are closed Monday for Columbus Day So now I have to wait until Tuesday to see what's going on. I have a feeling I must have that Hpylori thing. I can't imagine why else the word antibiotics would have been used. My daughter feels terrible, she's hoping it was a wrong number or something. Somehow, I don't think I'm that lucky LOL. Well, after all I've been through to get approved and get this far - a little setback/delay can't be the end of the world! I'd rather have a safe surgery than anything else and if I need to clear something up with antibiotics - so be it!!! I'll keep you all posted my buddies!!!! Much love, Carol V

I had the hyplori bacteria. It was a pain in the arse! I had to take 18 pills a day for 2 weeks. Be very diligant about it...don't miss any and make it a habit to take them around the same time every day for the best results. I also avoided dairy during this time as one of the medicines said that it was less effective if taken with dairy. Ask them also if there is a pill you can take to help prevent yeast infections. I didn't know a thing existed, but I got a TERRIBLE yeast infection in the end, and the er doctor i saw was like I"m surprised they didn't give you such and such pill. (sorry don't remember what it was called) After you have been off all anitbiotics for 4 weeks, they will retest. Most likely a breath test or a blood test, not an upper gi again. I was really angry when they told me all this, how dare something set me back now and all that. LOL But the more I thought about it I was thankful they found the bacteria now. Its the bacteria that is suspected to be a contributing factor to ulcers. I don't have any ulcers, so maybe it was found before damage was done. Also you don't want to risk getting ulcers once you have your pouch. So its the best thing for your health, and hang in there. Its a delay not a cancelation. Good luck, I'm sure you will do great.
