Report from Hospital **postop story**
Lap RNY was completed Thursday afternoon. The pain right after surger was way too much for me. I had to sit up to get rid of the pain. But, the doctors and the nurses had none of that. I was pretty much knocked out until 630pm. My husband and baby came into see me. I wasn't very much fun so once he realized I was fine, he went home to get some rest.
The next day wasn't too bad. Pain first thing in the morning sucks. Moving helps, but you have to alk yourself into it every time. I had trouble passing urine. I felt like I was going to burst then didn't get 5mls out. I was recathed and had a bag of saline pumped in me. That seemed to work pretty well. In the middle of the night (no sleep.. do not expect to sleep in the hospital) my blood pressure was very very low (79/38 99/58), the on call surgeon decided that I won't be discharged today, maybe tomorrow.
The barium test wasn't awful. I had a chance to sleep in there (the processor had gone down). I was relieved to hear my tiny pouch is intact and my food is going into my small intestines as planned.
I'm a bit bummed to be in a semi-private room. I feel guilty for having my husband andkids visit. But, hopefully I'll be home tomorrow and I'll be sleeping in my own bed.
Sorry if this is dribble.. I'm about to fall asleep.. AGAIN!!
Heather
Post Op!!!
OTHER THAN THE LOW BB, IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE DOING WELL. DO THEY HAVE ANY IDEA WHY YOUR BP IS SO LOW AT NIGHT? DID THEY PUT THOSE PRESSURE THINGS ON YOUR LEGS & FEET TO KEEP THE BLOOD FLOWING & KEEP YOU FROM GETTING BLOOD CLOTS?
WE PRAY THAT EVERYTHING IS PERFECT TOMORROW & YOU GET TO GO HOME! KEEP US UPDATED!
GOD BLESS YOU DAWN & NICK
Heather, I am sorry u had alot of pain...and the few other complications. I had my surgery on the 3rd....I am still sore, especially under my ribs a bit. But I am walking some and that has seems the healing process. I have tolerated everything I have ate...so far...You will be home soon and things will be much easier on u.....smiles to you....hang in there.
A LOT OF WLS PATIENTS SAY THEY HAVE PAIN UNDER THEIR RIB ... I'M THINKING THAT'S WHERE THE SURGEON HAS TO PUT HIS HAND TO MOVE THE ORGANS AROUND ... LOOK AT THAT SURGERY VIDEO MS VI POSTED.
GOOD FOR YOU & BEING ABLE TO EAT WITHOUT DISCOMFORT!
WE'RE ALL PULLIN' FOR YOU, MS LINDA!
