so does anyone have to do a liquid diet for 2 or more weeks b4 surgery? i started mine on the 1st and my surgery isnt til the 21st. its possed to shrink the liver (great even my liver is fat!!) and hopefully make it easier on my surgeon. after 4 days now its finally getting alittle easier. but man, im really going through the broth!!!! so just wondering if anyone else is going through this or am i the only 1 on a 3 week liquid diet? lisa

I was only told to be on a low fat diet, that sort of freaked my husband out. It seems more logical to clean the system out completely before you cut it apart. But, I'm not the surgeon. So I cut back on the bad food and started moving over to food that I will be eating as a post op (after the first couple of months). That helped me lose 6lbs and hopefully will jumpstart my post op healing and losing. I know it's hard but every pound you lose now will make it easier for the surgeon to work and for you to recover. Lisa I also have to be on a liquid diet for two weeks before surgery. I am really hoping the two weeks go fast. Marla

Wow, my doctor is only putting me on a liquid diet the day before surgery and then 2 weeks. When i go for 2 week check up I will get a new diet, probably pureed food. He said it will be 9 months before I can add all foods back. He spreads them out over a period of time. Good luck denise
