help..help..help...
okay let me have a few inputs on this whole situation...my surgery is on the 6th and i am supposed to be on a liquid diet until the surgery. i can tell you this is NO fun!!! i think what i am drinking tastes like barium..it took me 3 hours to finish one container and i still didn't fini**** am i the only one who has to do this liquid diet thing??? i am really hoping after i have the surgery that i do not have the hunger pains, headaches, etc..that i do now. so.....what do you think?? i actually wish i could go ahead and do the surgery now!!! i am not really anxious about the surgery although my pregnant daughter is freaking out about the whole thing (with my first grandbaby of course) but now i am concerned about my hair falling out, having to temporarily change my anxiety meds for 2 months since i can't have the capsule, my viatmin intake, and wondering how long i will have tubes in me after surgery. so this is it in a nutshell..sooooooo what do you think?????
Hi Cheryl,
I know how you feel, my doctor requires Medifast for 5 weeks prior to surgery. I only had the headaches when I first started the shakes, hunger pains subsided in a couple of days. I was a diet pepsi fanatic, now I am not allowed any diet soda. Can only have tea or coffee black, no artifical sweetners, perrier, club soda and certain seltzers. This kind of makes me looking forward to the liquid diet. My best friend just had her surgery on Monday(9/26), she came home on 9/28 with her drainage tube removed. We were given a specific list from our doctor on what vitamins we need.
hope all works out well,
Becky
Hey Girl STOP STRESSING! I had my surgery on the 8th of September and let me tell ya I had NO hunger pains or anything after surgery. I was starving before surgery as I too was on liquids. I had NO tubes other then a catheder(SP) which was good cause I didn't want to get up and potty that often anyway. They made me get up and walk every hour on the hour that was joy but wasn't really that bad. I went from 261 the day of surgery to 237 with in two weeks. I lost some pounds before surgery from the liquids so that was an added bounus. I about backed out ten times to include three the night of surgery and once as I was being rolled into surgery. I am glad I did it! This is a chance of a lifetime and I am so thankful God has given me this tool. You will be fine and do just grand! Don't worry so much, trust me its not that bad! All this from the biggiest chicken in Texas!!!! I hate surgeries lol anyway I hope this helps ease you a little and if ya need anything just give me a shout! God Bless and Take Care!
Hello Friend.
Oh... about that liquid diet thing. I have to be on a "clear" liquid diet 2 weeks before my surgery day (this Wed. I start). I don't know how anyone does it, but they do. I believe this is necessary to shrink your liver so that surgery is easier. I really think it is for the doctors to see if we are really serious about our new eating habits. But either way. We have to do it, kid. I, too, always get headaches when I don't eat. This is a real concern of mine as well. But, prayer. That is what is going to get me through this. That and my darling husband. He said that he would go on the diet with me if that would help. This coming from a man weighing in at about 215 pounds. But I told him that this is my reward for what is to come. As for losing my hair... that scares me too, as the whole time that I have been overweight, people have ALWAYS commented on my hair. But, if I lose a little, I can live with that. I had my gall bladder removed two years ago. Had a drain tube in, but they removed it before I came home. I am PRAYING the same thing will happen. Good luck!! Prayers are going up as we speak (or type). Terri
