Calling October 6 Losers
Who's scheduled for surgery on the 6th?
ME!!!
When did/will you you get your pre-op testing done?
Everything will be done Sept 21st. It will be a long day 9am-8pm on the hospital campus.
What time is your surgery?
11am. I'll need to be at the hospital at 9am. Not too bad.. unless I get bumped back
How long have you been approved to stay in the hospital (or how long did your surgeon say you will be in)?
The NP told me 3 days because we live an hour from the hospital. But, the insurance only approved 2 days.
hi. my surgery date is also oct 6th. i go to my pre op appointment tomorrow and i also go see the anesthesologist (did i spell that wrong???)i don't know what time my surgery is but i do know that he is going to do another surgery that day also. i will hopefully only stay in the hospital for 2 days. i am not looking forward to the catheter or the tube down my nose.....i am supposed to start a liquid diet 14 days before the surgery but am allowed diet drinks during that time. i am wishing you the best of luck and keep in touch. cheryl
for my 14 days before the surgery he wants me to drink optifast or something like eas carb control edge i can have diet drinks, tea etc... he says that will shrink the liver and will help with the surgery. one of his patients was on the liquid diet 3 months before surgery and lost like 50 lbs before his surgery. the carb control only has 100 calories in it and it was also specified by my nutritionist that i could drink that when i was on the liquid phase of my diet after surgery. it is available at the grocery store or nutrition centers and it has 15 grams of protein in each shake. alot of different flavors too. wishing you the best of luck you little wls getter......
Hey Heather!
I'm an October 6th surgery too! I can't wait! My pre-op will be 9/26, a long day for me too. I am my doctor's 2nd surgery of the day. I assume it will take place mid morning. I have to wait and call the hospital the day before to get an exact time. I have been approved for two days of hospital stay from my insurance company. I'll probably be ready to go home by then!
Take care and best of luck to us all!!
Lori
I'm also scheduled for October 6th. I've had that date set since the beginning of August. I had my last pre op visit last Wednesday the 28th. The doctor I see suggested a low carb diet (less than 30 grams a day) for at least 30 days before surgery. I'll be on an all liquid diet for two days before surgery and nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before. The hospital I go to has you up within 4 hours after the surgery walking and talking ice chips every 15 minutes (as long as there are no complications). They say the ice helps you pouch heal. I'll be in there for two day (again as long as there are no complications). They've said within three days you can start on pureed foods , if you can tolerate them. I'll be glad to get it over with!

WHAT PRODUCTS ARE YOU USING, MS KAREN, FOR THE LIQUID DIET? I HAVEN'T BEEN TO MY PRE-OP YET SO HAVE NOT BEEN TOLD ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PART. I AM STARTING A LOW-CARB DIET NOW ON MY OWN BUT WANT TO SHIFT TO A LIQUID DIET ABOUT A WEEK OUT IF MY SURGEON DOESN'T HAVE OTHER REQUIREMENTS.
GOD BLESS ... DAWN & NICK
