EATING OUT

I TOO WAS CONCERNED ABOUT NOT EVER BEING ABLE TO EAT OUT AGAIN WITH ANY REAL ENJOYMENT. EATING OUT IS A SPECIAL TIME FOR NICK & I TO SHARE OUR DAYS WITH EACH OTHER SO IT IS VERY SPECIAL TO US. WE DECIDED THAT HE WOULD ORDER WHATEVER HE WANTED KEEPING IN MIND THINGS I LIKE &, IN THE BEGINNING, I'D JUST TAKE A BITE OR 2 FROM HIS PLATE. LATER, THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH ME ORDERING SOUP OR SOMETHING SOFT. THEN, WHEN I'M ABLE TO EAT ANYTHING, MANY EATERIES WILL ALLOW WLS PATIENTS TO ORDER CHILDREN'S OR SENIOR'S PLATES, OR SMALLER PORTIONS & THERE ARE ALWAYS APPETIZERS WITH SMALLER PORTIONS. HAVE YOUR SURGEON GIVE YOU A LETTER OR ID CARD NOTING THAT YOU'RE A WLS PATIENT & UNABLE TO EAT A NORMAL AMOUNT OF FOOD. WE HAVE A GROUP OF WLS LADIES THAT MEET EVERY THURSDAY & THE LAST 2 TIMES, WE HAVE HAD 2 LADIES WHO WERE A YEAR OUT FROM SURGERY. THEY BOTH ORDERED APPETIZERS & ONE LADY EVEN ORDERED A DRINK (ALCOHOLIC) & DRANK ABOUT 1/3 OF IT. BOTH LADIES DRANK WATER & WE ALL HAD THE GREATEST TIME. NEITHER LADY WAS OUT OF PLACE & BOTH WERE SO HAPPY WITH THEIR SUCCESS THAT THEY DIDN'T EVEN GIVE A THOUGHT TO THE SMALL PORTIONS ... THEY DIDN'T EVEN EAT WHAT THEY ORDERED ... TOOK A DOGGIE BAG HOME. SO, NOT TO WORRY! LIFE ONLY GETS BETTER FROM HERE ON OUT!!!!!!!!!! & JUST THINK OF ALL THOSE HEADS YOU'LL TURN AS YOU WALK INTO A SOCIAL SETTING LOOKING HEALTHY, THIN & BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS DAWN & NICK

Dawn, I agree. I have come to about the same conclusions that you have about being able to eat out. Thank goodness, 'cause we out a lot. We have already decided we won't eat out as often, but it's nice to know that we'll be able to. God bless!

I have a 10month old and a 3yo. We do a lot of sharing already. I'll just start sharing their plates instead of them eating off my plate and ignoring their own. LOL! One thought just came to mind. Those of us that live farther north are going to face fall and winter really soon. We'll be smaller than we've been in a long time. I'll love having warm chili, creamy soups, and hot cocoa (OK.. protein shake and skim milk) to keep me warm.

YOU'LL EAT OFF YOUR KIDS' PLATES; I'LL EAT OFF MY HUBBY'S PLATE ... AREN'T WE A PAIR! I'M NOT THINKIN' ABOUT WINTER ... I'M THINKIN' ABOUT SUMMER WHEN I CAN FINALLY GO TO THE POOL & NOT WEAR SHORTS & A BIGGGGGGG T-SHIRT TO COVER ME UP IN! I CAN'T REMEMBER THE LAST TIME I HAD AN ACTUAL SWIM SUIT. OUR SURGERY DATES ARE PERFECT FOR A WONDERFUL SUMMER 2006! I USED TO HATE SUMMER ... HUFFING & PUFFING, SWEATING & RASHES & BEING MISERABLE IN THE HEAT ... I'M NOW LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS ONE!!!!!!!!! TO THE MISERIES OF BEING HEAVY IN SUMMER!! GOD BLESS DAWN & NICK
