My DH got an old family lift chair. That is what I am worried about not being able to get up and down. My knees and back are already bad. So he had to fix a few things and its really nice. I want help the first few days at home but I really want this to be no big deal for my family. I have 7 year old twins and I don't want to scare them to death. We have to provide our own transportation for school, does anyone know how long before you can drive. I'm have lapro. RYN?

I know my surgeon recommends 2-3 weeks, but Im sure every surgeon is different. I know people who drove a week after (not saying that its a good idea, but you know what I mean) I guess it all depends on the person and how they fell. Good luck with your surgery!

WE WERE TOLD ABSOLUTELY NO DRIVING FOR 2 WEEKS NO MATTER WHAT ... LONGER IF THERE ARE COMPLICATIONS. YEP, I'M HAVING HELP FOR A COUPLE DAYS AS WELL ... OUR SON'S GIRLFRIEND IS COMING OVER JUST TO CHECK IN. LIKE YOU, IT'S THE GETTING UP & DOWN. MY HUSBAND WILL STAY WITH ME IN THE HOSPITAL AS RECOMMENDED BY MY DR. THOSE DAYS OF NEEDING HELP WILL FLY BY! GOD BLESS DAWN & NICK

Hey, Jane, I've got twins too! Mine are 3, turning 4 in November. I'm worried about scaring them too; they're so young, I can't explain very much to them. What'll be hardest is not being able to pick them up, and keeping them from leaping on me and jostling tender healing tissues! Also I think they'll be confused about why mommy won't eat; we're used to offering each other food, like I'll give my daughter a grape off of my plate, then she offers me one of hers. Definitely get help at home; especially with kids in the house, you'll need help so you aren't trying to take care of their needs before you are able to do so. Good luck. Sheryl
