Happy Friday.. I was wondering if anyone else has an ulcer. What you're doing for it, if what the doctor prescribed is working, if you needed surgery.... My doctor gave me Nexium and some big white horsepills.. which form a protective gel over the ulcer and heals it... you're supposed to take the horsepills 4 times a day. 1 hr before meals.... or 2 hrs after meals....since we eat so little, i'm hungry more often, so it's really hard to take these pills 4 times a day, I know it's my fault, but it seems it just won't go away... I know i'll end up back in his office... and the next step is that tube down my throat... and i'm not looking forward to that... I really limit my caffeine... I have 1 espresso a day.... and if I have soda, it's decaffeinated... no tea... I do drink wine occasionally.. Anyone else having this problem..? Thanks..

Yes, I have an ulcer too. I got it because I started smoking after the surgery. I've quit but the damage is done. I take protonix for my ulcer once a day. It helps but if I forget to take it I'm in pain by the next day. I've got to stop drinking coffee and then if it doesn't clear up I'm going to ask for an endoscope.

So are you planning to quit drinking coffee altogether? I have given up so many things and I don't think I can give up coffee. Do you know if there's anything besides pills that will help?
