A day in control of eating
Like so many of us, I have been struggling the past month or two with an increased appetite, a desire to snack, more frequent cravings for carbs. I've been holding my own at a BMI of 25 for the past month, gaining and losing the same 3 pounds over and over.
The past couple of days, it's really been a struggle, I find myself in the kitchen browsing in the pantry or the refrigerator, not sure how I ended up there. These are some baaaadd old habits, and I don't want them back! I've got a couple of good excuses - last week I found out that a trusted person took a few hundred dollars from me, and I'm facing selling my house and relocating in the next couple of months - so I am under some stress. But I Can't Let My Eating Habits Deterioriate Due To Stress!
So I decided that today is the day I am taking control of my eating. Not forever - it's like being an alcoholic, I have to take it a day at a time. So, for today, I am in control. I feel myself really struggling this afternoon so I'm hoping that my post here will help me stay motivated and honest.
My intake so far today:
Breakfast: cafe au lait, 8 grams protein
Lunch: Vietnamese salad roll, and a dozen grapes, 14 grams protein
Beverages: besides the coffee and milk, I've had 24 ounces of herbal iced tea with sweetener.
I'm on track! And I'm going to try to stick with it for the rest of the day. No crackers. No pretzels. No jelly beans. No unplanned snacks. My plan for dinner: tuna salad on a big pile of lettuce with 1 (only one) piece of bread. Bedtime snack: yogurt and 1/2 apple.
If I do this, my reward will be a bubble bath after my kids go to bed.
Wish me luck!

I did it! My dinner wasn't quite as planned; my son didn't eat the two scrambled eggs I made for his dinner, so I had the eggs instead of the tuna salad and drank a glass of milk instead of the yogurt. Finished off the evening with a sliced apple. And guess what? The scale had me down 2 lbs this morning. Of course, it's not all "fat" loss, but I was glad to see the scale head the right direction.
