Regulating Body Temperature
Is anyone else having trouble regulating their body temperature? I used to be the person who was ALWAYS too warm, but since I lost 100 lbs of insulation, I am cold ALL THE TIME!!!!!! My office is kept on the cool side, and I've been wearing heavy sweaters and fleeces at work, even when it's 90 degrees outside! Just curious if anyone is struggling with this...

Hey Kate, Its not just you. I have worn long sleeves all summer. I freeze where ever I go. Church is the worst. I'm not sure how me an the husband are going to survive the winter. He sleeps with a fan and I already want to turn the furnace on. In the car is sooo bad. But I guess it's easier for us to put on clothes than everyone else wearing shorts all winter long.

Oh, Kate, this is so true! The minute they wheeled me out of the operating room, I felt cold. I remember in the week following surgery, my feet just felt like ice, I would soak my feet in a warm tub of water, just to warm them up. Ever since, I'm always the one in the room who is cold; if everyone else complains it's warm, and I feel just right.
I don't know why it seemed to start with the WLS for me; I lost 40+ lbs prior to surgery but didn't feel cold. It started with surgery, for some reason, and I still am dealing with it.
My doctor checked my thyroid, and it's normal, so no excuse there. Anyway, you're not alone!

Me too! I'm already wearing my only sweatshirt and the longest pants I own (capris), time to go shopping for winter clothes! Only problem is that it's still in the upper 80s here and still humid, we wont have cooler weather for several more weeks. I'm starting to worry, we're moving from South Carolina to Ohio in a month, I'm from the south so I'm not used to winter as it is, but now with no insulation I'm going to be bundled up and look like an idiot all winter! Should be interesting!
My thoughts, though- I'd rather be freezing cold when I'm out and about than go around sweating and embarrassed like I used to!

Honey, prepare yourself. I am from Ohio and it is COLD here NOW. I am not even going to tell you about January and February.
Where are you moving to? I am in Dayton.
I have already broken out the electric blanket and am headed to WalMart today to buy a heated matress pad for the bed. BBBRRRRR.......

Me, too! Me, too! I live in Louisiana where the temperatures have been in the 80's lately. Well, night before last the temperatures dropped at night down into the 60 or low 70's. When I crawled into bed, I was freezing so bad my body was shivering, my teeth were chattering and my feet felt like ice cubes. I couldn't warm up. I finally got out of bed and double folded a quilt over me, put on a pair of socks and a long sleeve shirt over my nightgown. If hubby hadn't have been asleep, i would have put on the light and found my flannel nightgown!
Anyhow, you're normal, just like the rest of us! Welcome to the losing side of life!

Oh, I'm so glad to hear that I'm not alone in this! I thought I was going crazy!! One of the worst places for me is church. I lead worship, and they have very bright lights on me, so I'm fine for awhile. But then after the singing, I get to sit down (out of the lights) and the contrast is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to bring a parka!
On the plus side, I was at the theatre tonight with a guy, and he noticed that I was cold, so I got a very nice snuggle out of the experience. Hey, I am always looking for the positive side of things!
Stay warm!!!
