re: feeling like I let myself go
I haven't been doing that well losing the last few weeks. Seems like my old appetite is coming back. I'm still down 150lbs according to my scale but I think it is wrong and I actually weigh more as the scale at Curves says I do.
I'm afraid i'll gain some of the weight back and I don't want to. Has anyone else felt this way. I feel like i've failed or am going to
On a good note, Tomorrow 9-21 is my birthday #42. I will post a pic when I get one taken.
Lisa J. in Mass
Lisa, I know how you are feeling. The past month I've been on a plateau, and have slowly let old habits creep back in. I was starting to feel frustrated and depressed wondering if I will keep this last 40-50 pounds. Then I realized what I was doing by snacking and not exercising...I was turning back to the old me. I don't want to go there....so I need to snap out of it.
Today I am back on track, I got in my protein and fluids and worked out tonight. I feel so much better already! I think every once in a while we need to kick ourselves in the hiney and take control. I also know that getting on the messageboards and participating and seeing all of you helps me out. I need to make an effort to keep in the loop!!
So...you are not alone! You can get back on track..we are all here for you...and I need you here for me....LOL
Happy Birthday tomorrow...have an amazing day!!
Shelly
Lisa, same here! My scale is up about 2.5 lbs, and I know I have been snacking the past few days and that is the culprit. Yes, we do need to get back on track, which is why I'm here, reading posts, hoping to help myself get motivated. We can do this if we stay focused. I have to remind myself, this is for the rest of my life!
Hang in there, keep doing the things you know are right!
Sheryl
Lisa,
I think a lot of folks are feeling the same way, so you are not alone. Unfortunately, it's very common to gain back about 10% of what you lose. I think the only way to avoid that is to stay ever-vigilant about keeping track of what you eat and continuing to exercise. (Or at least that's what my nut and surgeon say!) Early on, the surgery helps us lose quickly and relatively easily. At this point though, it's dedication and willpower that will keep you going. And given what you've already been able to accomplish, I'm sure you will continue to be successful in the long-term.
Happy birthday!
Kellie
You had your surgery one day after me and you have lost 150 pounds. I have lost 86 pounds. You have done great. It seems I have to watch everything I eat and walk 2 miles a day plus my Gazelle each morning to loose 1 pound a week. Don't go back to your old ways, just think how much better you feel and how much better health you are experiencing now. Good luck
Hi Lisa,
I feel yah girl. I can eat anything and normal. Maybe not as normal as everyone else but I can eat. It scares me too.
But , when I do eat more, I have a tendancy to start losing again. I think our body's go into "STARVATION MODE" when we lack calories and fats. So I mix it up. One week is low cal., low fat. Next week I add more fats and calories. It seems to work for me.
