I need a count!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I need to get a count of how many people will possibly be traveling to Las Vegas in March. The more people we have the better our hotel rate will be. Please let me know as soon as you can. Most of the rates I'm seeing are running about 150 - 220 for the moderate hotels on the strip! I can also look at hotels off the strip if that will make people happy. Please let me know what you prefer. Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!
Keke
I prefer modest price on-strip, e.g. Bally's, Tropicana, or Excalibur. Good location, easy access to other casinos and activities. I'm thinking a 2 or 3 night stay, overlapping a weekend.
Group activities I would enjoy: swimming (if our hotel has a pool), dining (we all eat off the appetizers and salads menu, or everyone shares entrees, right?), maybe a show or a spa outing. Those who enjoy can gamble, imbibe, or visit dams (I've never seen the big draw, but lots of people like to visit the Hoover Dam).
Are people thinking of traveling solo or bringing spouse/family?
Keke, THANKS for organizing!

I would prefer on strip. The hotels I've narrowed it down to are New York, New York; Luxor (which actually has pretty good rates); Bally's and Circus Circus. Like I mentioned before I'm very particular about where I sleep (does that make me stuck up)? I think sharing rooms is a good thing. I wasn't sure if I was going to bring my mother and son but I'll do what the group does. I planned on coming in early Thursday and leaving early Sunday (the 25th is my birthday). The 23-25 is the cheaper of the two weekends. The problem is we're in the middle of Spring Break which is why our prices are a little highter. I hope I didn't ramble too much!

If Spring Break is affecting our hotel rates, it will probably drive up airfare as well. For the folks who are interested in doing this, I wonder if we could consider either February or April, so we can avoid the additoinal costs (and craziness) associated with spring break? I know you're trying to narrow down, rather than expand possibilities, Keke, so if this is opening up a big can of worms, I apologize.
I'm flexible on the month we go.
Oh, one more thing, Circus Circus used to be in a kind of seedy part of the strip, though their costs are definitely reasonable. Has anyone stayed there lately, and what was your experience? I looked on Expedia.com, and the average rating was 2.7 out of 5, so not that good. The other three hotels you mentioned sound great to me, based on having stayed there or having visited their casinos.
Sheryl
Yeah I heard that about Circus Circus but I was looking at price but frowning at the same time. The airfare is expensive at least I know it is for me coming out of Florida. It's between $400 and $450. So we shall see how it goes................. I even thought about switching locations to Dallas which was a lot cheaper but we'll stick with Las Vegas right now and go with the flow.................And you didn't open a can of worms............

When you're checking on group rates, ask if you can speak to a casino host; they may be able to do a better group rate than you'll be quoted just by calling the reservation desk. Be sure to let them know you are bringing a group and give an estimate of how many rooms your group will book. Also, if you think this may become an annual event, let them know that as well. If they think you'll bring repeat business back to their facility, they can sometimes cut you a better deal.
The other thing you want to find out is whether there are any big conventions in town during the dates you are looking into. You may be able to get that information from a casino host... If so, I would suggest picking different dates; the hotels/casinos charge higher rates during the bigger conventions because, well, they can get away with it. So you don't want to be paying convention prices if you aren't there for the convention.
Anyway, just a few thoughts from someone who's done some Vegas travel. Good luck find a great rate in a nice place!
