Reflux? Plus: eating on the road and a WOW
My friends, I've been doing my usual disappearing act - I've been traveling on business, this is my 4th week in a row and it is taking a toll on me and at home too. Sorry not to have checked in with you all more often!
Last week, my voice felt funny, like I was a little hoarse. Then on Sunday, I had this feeling deep in my throat, like I was maybe beginning to catch a cold, sort of an irritated feeling. On Monday, I finally recognized the feeling, it felt like when I used to have acid reflux (about 5 or 6 years ago). My doctor had taken me off Protonix (acid reducer) at my 6 month check-up, but warned me to be on the look-out for symptoms of acid reflux or ulcer. Of course, I didn't pack any Protonix in my suitcase, but I picked up some Pepcid at a drug store and it seems to be helping, so I am pretty confident reflux is the culprit. Back on that Protonix, as soon as I get home from this business trip!
Eating on the road has been challenging; my usual healthy choices are harder to find. Room service breakfast: a big glass of skim milk and 1/2 of a breakfast burrito loaded with eggs. My client brought in lunch today: pizza. I limited myself to one small slice. Dinner: caesar salad with dressing on the side (so I can dip my fork) and a roasted turkey sandwich (no mayo, and I ate half of the sandwich). My indulgence was a glass of wine with dinner, and a handful of jellybeans after lunch. I guess that's not too bad, though I didn't get nearly enough fruit or veggies today.
My WOW: the hotel robe fits me, with plenty to spare!
