REAR ENDED BUT BLESSED

WELL, WE WERE AT THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME, BUT IT WAS ONE OF THOSE THINGS WHERE YOU JUST KNOW THAT "IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE" FOR WHATEVER REASON, WE WILL LEARN IN THE FUTURE. NICK GOT OFF EARLY (NOT NORMAL) & I WAS SO INTERESTED IN EVERYONE'S PROGRESS ON THE BOARDS THAT I STAYED HOME LONGER THAN I NORMALLY WOULD HAVE TO READ MORE OF THE POSTS ... &, IT WAS RAINING IN JUST ONE SMALL PORTION OF COLLEGE PARK, NOT OVER THE ENTIRE AREA LIKE IT USUALLY DOES. NICK HAD CHECKED OUT OF WORK BEFORE I CAME TO PICK HIM UP (NOT NORMAL) INSTEAD OF WAITING AS HE USUALLY DID ... SO, ANY ONE OF THESE ABNORMAL ACTIONS WOULD HAVE MEANT THAT WE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AT THAT PARTICULAR PART OF THE ROAD AT THAT PARTICULAR MOMENT ... SO, THAT'S WHY I SAY THAT IT WAS JUST MEANT TO BE. TWO CARS WERE STOPPED AS THE 1st ONE WAS TURNING LEFT. I APPLIED MY BRAKES & BEGAN TO SKID SO (THANK YOU SCHNEIDER TRUCKING FOR TEACHING ME THIS) I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE PEDDLE TO GIVE MY TIRES A CHANCE TO BEGIN ROTATING AGAIN TO GRIP THE ROAD. AFTER QUICKLY ASSESSING MY OPTIONS, I BEGAN TURNING TO THE RIGHT INTO A LARGE ENTRANCE TO A BUSINESS JUST TO GIVE MYSELF MORE ROOM IN CASE I BEGAN TO SKID AGAIN &, THANKFULLY, I CAME TO A STOP WITHOUT HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. BUT, WITHIN A FEW SECONDS OF SAFELY STOPPING, THE YOUNG MAN BEHIND US SKIDDED & RAN INTO THE BACK OF OUR CAR. BECAUSE I HAD POINTED MY CAR TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD, I WAS NOT PUSHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WHICH SAVED ME A TICKET & FRONT END DAMAGE. IT ALSO MINIMIZED THE REAR END DAMAGE SINCE HE HIT THE DRIVER'S SIDE CORNER OF MY BACK BUMPER WITH A GLANCING MOTION INSTEAD OF SMASHING INTO THE CENTER OF OUR CAR. THE BUMPER IS SHOT & THE TRUNK IS SLIGHTLY WARPED, BUT IT'S ALL FIXABLE & WE DON'T THINK THE FRAME IS DAMAGED BUT WE WILL HAVE SOMEONE CHECK THAT OUT. NICK & I & MISS NATASHA (OUR DOG) ... & THE YOUNG MAN ALL CAME OUT OF THE ACCIDENT BASICALLY UNSCATHED EXCEPT FOR SOME MINOR STIFFNESS ... SOUNDS LIKE WE WERE ALL VERY BLESSED! IT TURNED OUT TO BE ONE OF THOSE SITUATIONS WHERE TEMPERS COULD HAVE FLARRED BUT DIDN'T. THE YOUNG MAN WAS RESPECTFUL & EVEN APOLOGIZED. HIS MOTHER CAME TO THE SCENE & SHE APOLOGIZED PROFUSELY & THANKED ME FOR MY UNDERSTANDING. I TOLD HER WHAT AN OUTSTANDING YOUNG MAN HER SON WAS ... WE HUGGED & WERE ALL VERY THANKFUL FOR BEING ABLE TO GO HOME TONIGHT ... NICK'S WATCHING THE HOCKEY PLAYOFFS & I'M POSTING TO MY WLS FRIENDS ... LIFE IS GOOD! GOD BLESS Y'ALL DAWN & NICK
