What to eat??
I can handle pretty much anything except bread, flour tortillas or dry meats. I still have to be conscious of eating slowly, becasue I will throw up every time if I don't! Some days I feel like I eat a lot, but I know it's nothing compared to what I ate pre-op, other days I feel like I didn't eat anything. I am working hard on pushing fluids now because I have had ttrouble with that in the past 7 months, really longer than that! I do get cravings for things, I'm sure it's a mind thing! I would love a big juicy steak, but in reality, 2 tiny bites would do it for me!

Hi Elizabeth, well these days i can eat just about whatever, but this is what my menu consist of, turkey, cheese rollups, chili, ham, chicken, egg salad, wheat thins, any kinds of cheese, bacon, still no steak, but hamburger ground lean,i did make a fake ice cream sandwhich this week , i took one graham cracker and spread pb,then i sliced a bann half, then i put cool whip on it and froze it............it did satisfy my craving......i also do 2 protein shakes a day and i do use milk..........i am 150lbs and i am happy...Vickie r.
I HAVE REALLY JUST STAYED IN A "NOT REALLY HUNGRY" MODE, THANK YOU, GOD! I LIVE ON POWER CRUNCH PROTEIN BARS (2 A DAY), CRYSTAL LITE (I JUST STARTED REALLY TRYING TO PUSH THE FLUIDS - I'M TERRIBLE AT THAT), SEAFOOD & CHICKEN SALAD. LATELY, I'VE BEEN ON A STEAMED CRABLEGS KICK.
HIGHLY-TEXTURED MEATS LIKE STEAK, PORK & CHICKEN STILL CAUSES PAIN IN MY POUCH. I DUMP BIG TIME ON PASTA & RICE PRODUCETS ... &, IF I EAT EVEN 1 TOO MANY BITES, I'M ing IMMEDIATELY.
I HAVE NEVER TRIED ANYTHING WITH SUGAR ... I KNOW MYSELF; PUT A REESE CUP (OR, HEAVEN FORBID, A CADBURY EGG AT EASTER) IN MY MOUTH EVEN ONCE & I'M A GONER. I HAVE VERY, VERY FEW TIMES THAT I EVEN WANT SWEETS EXCEPT I'M HOOKED ON SF POPCICLES. IF I DO GET A SWEET TOOTH, IT'S SF WITH SPLENDA ALL THE WAY FOR ME.
I HAVE HAD THE "CRUNCHIES" FOR ABOUT A MONTH SO I GET QUAKER RICE & SOY CRISPS & CHEETOS, WHICH ALL HAVE LOW SUGAR CARBS & THE SOY CRISPS HAVE 9 GRAMS OF PROTEIN.
MY WHOLE FOOD MINDSET HAS CHANGED ... AMAZINGLY, FOOD DOESN'T HAVE THE CHARM IT HAD FOR ME BEFORE SURGERY. I DO ENJOY THE FLAVOR OF FOOD BUT I'M JUST NOT ALL THAT INTERESTED IN EATING.
I COOK FULL MEALS FOR MY PARENTS AS WELL AS FOR NICK BUT AFTER 4 OR 5 BITES AT MOST, I'M SATISFIED & ACTUALLY WANTING TO GET ON TO SOMETHING ELSE. IT'S WONDERFUL NOT BEING CONTROLLED BY FOOD!
HOW ABOUT YOU, MS ELIZABETH ... WHAT ARE YOU EATING NOW?
