Fell off plateau wagon
Deb...I can eat a whole Wedndy's chili...I have not tried pie yet...but can eat sweets in small amounts...I don't pu****sugar...the reason we have to stay away from sugar... I found this out at a support meeting...as it is abrasive...could damage the pouch...check out the rules for pouches...Dummy version book...I went out for dinner and ate 3/4 of a bowel of Chili, and a 1/2 of a open face sandwich with the top bread gone...the sandwich was soft...it is funny how we can eat so much of the complex carbs...that melt in the mouth vs. dense food...listen to your pouch, it will tell you when you are over doing it and are full.... ...try to stay with the 4oz. to 6 oz. rule....and you will be fine...as far as the pie? hmmm how much have you lost on the plateau buster diet? I was so bad on Saturday...had 2 well drinks....Marquerita's and 2 glasses of Merlot over the whole day...did not do anything to me......Dennis...but have to keep that to a very once and a while...and today is another day...
Deb, don't beat yourself up. Keep in mind that this is a long term thing - you can't be a saint all the time. It's not possible to live that way. All of us are going to eat foods we shouldn't; the challenge is to not let it derail you from your commitment to living a healther lifestyle. Not a perfect lifesyle, just one that is healthier than before. See? That's not so bad. You can do that, right?
So you have a piece of pie. Big deal. It has apples, and those are wonderful. It has crust; well, some carbs are absolutely appropriate in your diet. Yes, this had more sugar than you need, and probably more fat, but you only had one piece, and then you stopped. You didn't eat the entire pie. How much would you have eaten a year ago? Two pieces? Three? This is not a failure - compared to before, you were successful! You only ate one piece. Good for you!
Give yourself permission to have treats once in a while. Just learn how to stop after a reasonable portion - that's really the challenge.
Good luck to you!
Sheryl
At this point I'm sure I could eat a large Wendy's chili, so don't beat yourself up. Like the last poster said, we're all in this for the long haul, Deb. So you made some bad food choices. Recognize that that's what it was - a few bad choices - and work hard to do better the rest of today, tomorrow and the day after that. We all make bad choices some times. It's making good choices most of the time that counts.
So go easy on yourself. Take a deep breath. Recommit yourself to eating healthy and in reasonable portions. If you need it, get to a support group. Talk to your nutritionist. Talk to a psychiatrist. Do whatever it takes to help you work on your issues. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!

I agree about following the rules of the pouch!! If I eat some carrot sticks, I get so full and I don't crave any junky foods......for a long time, I stayed away from the bulky foods because of low tolerance, but now that I am over 7 months out, I am getting hungry and cravy....so now I am eating more salad, vegies, whole apples, etc.....I am so glad to have found those pouch rules......
This is a life long process, so some days we eat healthier than others....this isn't a diet anymore.....to me there is no falling off or cheating either, it's just how I eat now.....
Deb,
I am just going to repeat what everyone else has already said. Today is a new day. do not worry over past choices. as long as you eat right MOST of the time. you will succeed. I have to believe that because I can eat more than Anyone else I have heard about. And believe me I make some terreble choices. I spent 6 weeks going up and down the same 6 lb. But I have been trying to eat right most of the time and have finally passed that 6 lb and lost another 6.
Do not give up,
Deb
