diet soda
Hello, Lousie! You are doing great.
As for diet soda, I was told I shouldn't drink them but occasionally I pop a top and indulge in a couple of sips. Usually I end up dumping over half the can down the drain, though, because it just doesn't taste good to me anymore. I allow myself a fountain drinkwith lots of ice on Wednesdays, the day I go to lunch with my friends. I like those now. That's weird because before surgery I hated fountain drinks and loved cans / bottles. Now it's the opposite.
Anyhow, opinions on this subject vary. The best thing to do is check with your surgeon's office.

I only drink it once in a while, but I know there are some others on the boards who drink it more often. I try to avoid it because regular soda is a huge trigger for me and I'm afraid if I drink diet too often it will lead to regular. I actually had a dream about drinking a can of regular Coke the other night. I swear I could actually taste it. But even in the dream I knew it was wrong and would lead me down the path of regain. I would practically kill for a can right about now, but I know I can't do it.
Like I said, there are others who drink it pretty regularly and don't have the same problem as me. It also depends on your surgeon. Mine says no way unless it's flat, so I get mine as flat as possible when I do drink it. Others say it's okay and it doesn't stretch the pouch at all. This is definitely a hot topic around these boards every now and then. Sorry I couldn't be of much help.

I probably drink a can every other day. When I am sitting around watching TV at night the one can of soda stops me from snacking on anything else. As far as my surgen, he says anything in moderation is fine. Double check with your doctor and if you get the all clear, then try some and see how your body reacts. We are all different. Good luck
